Exactly - and because you couldnt get a lift you had to hop all the way and not sleep.

Your legs must look like those of a T-Rex by now!

Wait a minute.... Lake Superior isn’t in Mexico. If it is it’s really going to mess up that new trade deal.
I worked long weeks back in the day when we had Insomnias... Some days, I think twice a week, I even had 12-13 hours before I got to home late in the evening... But I always had time for Insomnia sale when ever it was on. Good times. Sometimes I even got up during night to see what was going on with the sale. It was mad, but certainly have good, tired memories of the sales. And I got plenty of good games for good price.
Though I understand they are/were not for everyone, of course.

Too long, time for another one:)
I enjoyed the deeper discounts than the usual found with today's sales. Also, the community seemed to rally more during Insomnia. A sale that would likely be lost on the current climate. RIP Insomnia.
Insomnia 4 ever!
Who needs sleep if you can get games?
I've been staying up all year, waiting for it to start. Could be any minute now, I can't miss a single deal! O_o

(Joking aside, the discounts probably wouldn't be worth putting up with the inconvenience anymore. I think the "golden era" of exciting sales is over.)
I have never been around for one. But they sound... like a nightmare.
The best thing was that on some Insomnia's you could get a "jackpot" (or whatever it was called) means random chance for getting an item for free. I was clicking on every deal and once got 5 freebies during one sale. Great times.

CMOT70: I liked them too, but I think too many people complained about them. Boring reasons like having to go to work and stuff like that. Still, I don't see why they couldn't have one per year...it's not like there aren't enough regular sales to go around.

hedwards: Not enough people complaining, really.

They were a pretty resounding fuck you to people who have jobs, especially that first one where the only games I might have been interested in were at the very start of the promo when any reasonable person would have still been in bed.

A bloody stupid promo and particularly exploitative.
Yes and My internet was too damn slow and it is STILL too damn slow, Not everyone has super fast 10,000,000 Petabyte Per Second fucking connections!

Also, back then the site was much "leaner" than it is now. Imagine doing another one with everyone constantly refreshing their browsers under the new 'content rich' redesign. There probably wouldn't be a functional sale...
Not long enough. I don't get the appeal of "flash sales" like that.

mqstout: I don't get the appeal of "flash sales" like that.
The appeal of flash sales were the extraordinarily high discounts that publishers would be willing to offer only because of the short time windows. But I don't see that happening anymore. These days high discounts are mostly reserved for those older or less popular games that everyone already owns or never planned to buy in the first place.

And if you look at it rationally, the time spent on trying to get good deals during these sales is probably worth more than the few dollars you manage to save by that. But maybe the appeal of flash sales is also that you don't have much time to think about it rationally and therefor you don't need to come up with any other reason to justify your purchase than "but time is running out!". ;)
