This is a little project mixing Claw and Quake 2 with a bit of Metal Slug on top. It was supposed to be quickly finished in summer 2019 and has been sitting on my drive for 2 years. It is a very short demo, but it is running on my own Broken Mug Engine written in C++ and using SDL 2, OpenGL, Box2D, FMOD and some other libraries.

The idea was to test how fast I can prototype a simple game in my game engine and to spark my interest in this hobby again, unfortunately it didn't end as planned and I am releasing it as-is and unfinished 2 years later. All maps, characters, animations and particle effects are made using the built-in editor and everything is highly customizable using external XML files.

You can download the playable demo from the links in the video description and look around if you wish. Don't expect anything more than you see in the video.

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the textures and sounds I borrowed from other games. This is just a hobby project, not commercial.
To be hones I have never played Captain Claw (aka Kapitan Pazur) but your game has a strong quakey feel. Congratulations!

looks pretty cool!
Looks great!

Captain Claw is great it would be nice to see it here!

I like youtube video, nowdays it could be sold, undoubtedly many people would be interested.
This is great.

No chance of sneaking in the Claw designs I guess?
Thanks everybody for positive comments. Claw definitely should be released here, there is still a thriving community, new maps are released everyday, people are making speedruns and there are a lot of new YouTube videos being made.

As I said everything was made using the built-in editors while characters and object properties are defined in external readable XML files. You can change everything. The engine does support old style animations based on sprite sheets like in original Claw, and it is demonstrated in the included "Split Horizon" space shooter example, however the code expects characters to use skeletal animation for now.

Makes sense.

We really need the old Monolith back.

Monolith is one of PC gaming's biggest tragedies. Claw, Blood, Shogo, No One Lives Forever, FEAR, Condemned... they were pumping out original new games like crazy, all designed primarily for PC. Then their games got infected with consolitis and for last 10+ years they are just an internal Warner Bros studio.
I've only ever played the demo for Claw(I think the first level), and I remember loving it. I kept replaying that first level, over and over again. every day after school. Maybe someday I'll be able to buy it on GOG.

My first encounter with Claw was the demo that was on the Blood 2 CD. Unfortunately I was young and foolish and didn't care about 2D games back then. Then nostalgia hit me almost 20 years later, so I searched for the game and played it in 2019 and loved it.
