So I love how far GoG has come over the past year with GoG Galaxy client and expanding their game library.

However i wanted to know what are the plans going forward in improving GoG Galaxy?

1. Make adding friends easier and make playing games in GoG more noticeable to your friends?
2. Add chat overlay to games?
3. Growing Community forums to be more active for each game?

The reason I ask is cause i still have lots of friends who have GoG and Steam. However they still keep steam as a way to stay in touch with all their gamer friends.

Which means they really never have GoG Galaxy running and really only view it for nostalgia type games.

I would love to see GoG community grow to rival steam when it comes to game reviews etc for each game.

How is Gog becoming nor and more steam like going to be competition to steam, surely it would just become a steam clone. For me Gog's draw is that they are different from the rest of the industry. Ie I don't have to have a client running, I don't get force fed advertising, I don't have a broken product due to drm, and I don't have to bother with the the social crap lumped with the aforementioned. Steam is good at what it does and if you want that, then use it, no need to make everything the same.
Yes I'm a fanboy but the reason I live in here is because IT'S NOT STEAM! :P

Indeed and for those who want to have friends interactions - make it as difficult as possible to add friends, and as cumbersome as possible to use any such functionalities. Because, after all, they can just go back to Steam. Who needs them anyway. Splitters!

No, they could use facebook, twitter or one of the other applications directly for it, they are social media, not Doom or other games.

1. They have made it pretty easy. You can add friends via the forum or directly search for there name/email in the client.

2. This is currently being tested and can be found already in an early form in the Witcher 3 and Prison Architect.

3. Hopefully they will link each forum within the game view so it's more easier to get to in the client.

Don't put much stock into what nightcraw1er and some other say, he is well against Galaxy. Some people on the forums, especially older members are against nearly any kind of change around here.

But Galaxy will slowly but surely give the good parts of Steam without some of the more crappy parts of Steam. It's just taking time as the devs have been re-working the Galaxy back end for the past few month to give more tools for game devs like letting them directly patch games themselves via Galaxy as well as new features like game compression.
To add to the apparent sentiment here. GOG should not compete with Steam. GOG should compete with themselves. If Steam do something well, good for them. If it would improve GOG, I'd suggest GOG look into it. However the fundamental measure shouldn't be competing with Steam, it should be adding maximum value to GOG.

No, I am mot against change, its just that most changes around here now are bad ones, set out to appease people like you who want Gog to be one steam. Did you by any chance vote for early acces, sorry InDev?
Anyway, I digress. Will look forward to these new features like game compression - hold on, I already have that with browser download, or maybe letting publishers patch my system themselves, sounds great perhaps I should drop av as well.

GoG would of never developed Galaxy if it wasn't something that they thought a majority of their users wanted, end of story. It's not by accident that Galaxy will have some (not all) of the same bells and whistles the Steam client has.

Thanks. That is my point. GoG is the shining example of how the best way to fight piracy is to offer convenience over it. It also builds a more positive relationship with your customers. I certainly want to keep that. I wasn't saying lets turn this into steam.

Just pointing out that steam does not have too much over GoG. I feel if the chat client were improved that the community and forums would grow.

Sometimes the only reason i load up steam is to check the community there and see what people are saying about a video game and then go buy it on GoG.

Make community interactions easier -> People check GOG/Galaxy more often -> More visible advertising. Most decisions Valve makes with Steam is to maximize profits which equals to "doing well" - as long as GOG has major distinguishing features to differentiate itself from Steam, they can ape Steam all they like and it'll... Probably help.

According to you... but thank the lord that decision doesn't fall to you. Good day. Don't feel like arguing with you about your Galaxy crusade.

If it adds value to GOG - good. However that should be the motivator, not because Steam do it.

Back in 2013, 61% said that they did want Early Access on GOG. I think I was one of those that said yes, but can't recall atm.
See here, slides 5 and 6.

Lovely times, lots of popcorn eaten.

Any stats on those that wouldn't mind if drm was here also? Majority anything doesn't necessarily make it good.
