I'm curious how this sale works. Is the game counter decremented as soon as you click on the offer, or do you have to go through with the purchase? If the latter and you have a slow connection, is it possible to miss out on the offer even after clicking on it?

If it's the former, and then you back out of the offer without buying, does that mean that still takes away a game from someone else who might buy it?

Thanks.

The game is "taken" once you've clicked buy.
If you haven't actually bought it after a few minutes it goes back and the counter goes back up again by 1.

You can miss out on the offer if it takes you 10+ minutes to pay.

So if you click on a game but don't buy it, but the rest of the copies are taken and the game changes to something else, then the game you "release" is basically lost?

I think it's only purchased when you complete the order. Otherwise, it would be like being half-pregnant. :)

I don't think so, because even if that is how it works and those copies were to be temporarily "lost," GOG could just add those lost copies the next time that game comes up in the Insomnia Sale. So if they were planning on selling 50 copies of a game in Round 2, and the game had 5 lost copies in Round 1, I think they could just sell 55 copies instead of 50 in Round 2.

It *could* work that way, but does it? :-)

I opened a window and clicked to buy Kerbal space program and it took me to the buy page, opened a new gog window and kerbal still showed the same amount of games. Once you buy the game the number decreases. If you are too slow you will not get the sale price.
