I installed the evaluation version of Hex Workshop 6.8

The links for buying serial number and license, message says that address can't be found. I've tried emailing, tech support, and other methods. So unless I can officially own the software, it will be useless after the trial period is over. And please, don't even suggest uninstalling and re-installing the program. I am absolutely scared about using something that's not legally mine.

Those two links eventually takes you to the screen that says page cannot be found. Looked for alternates for HXW and most are for free trial. I think some early versions of HXW were free ware.

EDIT: Just read your post. I'd continue, but i'm not sure how far i'd have to get to see the 404 and i don't want to place an order. I'd give 'em some time and if not start hitting them up on whatever they advertise with.

HxD is a good freeware (not just trial) hex editor:

I've always used HxD and had no problems with it. There's also XVI32, which you might wanna give a try.

All of BPSoft's webpages show a copyright date of 2014 and the "latest" version of the tool also hasn't been updated for 7 years. Even if the company is still technically around, they don't appear to be particularly active anymore.

I'll put in another vote for HxD. I've used it for well over a decade, personally and professionally, and it's still being actively developed and maintained. And it's even free (with an option to donate, if you want to support the author).

In Hex Workshop, there's a tiny calculator to be used to change values before saving. In HxD I don't see a way to change values. Maybe I'm overlooking it.

While HxD is good software, might I suggest Okteta, QHexEdit2, or more seriously, Wxhexeditor?

I've always used the OS's calculator to do conversions first. However, I normally don't do that, though. I'm usually either using 1, 0, or FF. Keep in mind, too, that x86 is Little-endian. So 0xf00dc0de is usually de c0 0d f0.
