Please, post your computer specs and your OS, do you have installed the lastest drivers?

Try the GOG solution first. That requires changing configs in the game's override folder. Change it back if you get errors because it's a quick text change. If you mess up, verify and repair your installation through Galaxy or by reinstalling the game.

If that doesn't work, then apply the Reddit solution because changing back the Device Manager settings is reversible. It's annoying in that you have to apply the change every time you level up.

The last solution on Steam Community involves making an exception to Jade Empire executable in the Nvidia settings. Not sure if this setting is available if you only have an iGPU on a notebook, but again totally reversible.

The permanent solution would be to switch to a desktop with its own GPU. I played this game recently on this setup and had no issues at all.

I don't have Nvidia could I just down load that and explain what you're saying switch the desktop, I'm a noob with computers and this bug as been around for years idk why no one has fixed it yet

There's no point in downloading Nvidia drivers if your notebook? doesn't have have a Nvidia GPU in it.

What I meant was to play on a desktop PC with its own discrete GPU to avoid the issue altogether because it seems this issue affects only Intel iGPU notebooks.

Another solution you can try is on the EA boards where someone suggested uninstalling the "Graphic drivers for Intel" from System Settings or Device Manager and keep removing it or rejecting its installation until you finish playing the game. Once you've finished the game, you can reinstall it again: https://answers.ea.com/t5/EA-General-Questions/Jade-empire-crashes-when-I-try-to-level-up/m-p/9205867#M344135

This issue seems to be caused by your Intel's iGPU drivers being incompatible with DirectX 9. When OS and drivers update, some support of older DirectX get dropped because of irrelevancy. Intel is to blame here, not BioWare / EA.

Again, if all of this is too difficult for you to understand, I suggest contacting GOG Support to help you out. Maybe you can reference this thread to help them understand what's going on.
