Well, that thread does highlight some mechanics in RPGs that seem rather strange.

Not disagreeing at all. Naturally the subject was bound to produce some fine samples for this thread.

All of those phrases make a lot of sense in the context they were in but look confusing, contradictory or humorous when isolated and that is exactly what this thread is about.
