Just got back from the Mayhem / Watain / Rotting Christ / Sadistic Intent show.

Muddied sound and a lethargic crowd made for a pretty mediocre experience.

And I have to admit I got the f*** out of the way when the pig's blood came out during Watain's set.
As Blood Runs Black - Allegiance

And the other Album; Triumph

In Honor is my favourite.

Recently, I listen to a brand new song from Baroness - Chlorine & Wine and I'd loved it both song and cover art by Baizley.
Amorphis - Black Winter Day (1994)
A fried introduced me to these guys:

Dream On Dreamer - Vertigo (Official Music Video) (epilepsy warning a lot of flashing)
This was always my favorite metal song.

Brak - Metalhead song

If anyone is into Doom/Folk with ambient/atmospheric flavour check out the new Kauan record Sorni Nai.

Highly recommend their previous stuff aswell.

yogsloth: [...] Rotting Christ [...]
It's been a while since i checked out this thread.

I saw Rotting Christ live three times (last one was in 2001); great band, very important for the Greek underground scene. While i like nearly every album they released so far, Thy Mighty Contract is by far my favourite. A masterpiece.

PainOfSalvation: Pretty Maids - Back to Back (1984)

\m/ \m/
Just found two Pain of Salvation CDs used for $3 each; gave 'em a try.

I listened to "Scarsick" so far. Hmmmm. Disco rap prog metal?

Haven't tried "BE" yet.

And you are from Greece. I saw them 3-4 times in my country as well. They seem to be liking Romania, they even made a cover of one popular folklore song from around here:

Unfortunately, it's not that I didn't want to see them more times (and on their later albums of course), it's because I couldn't; I suffer from tinnitus/ hyperacusis (a vast amount of concerts plus long hours in the recording studio next to drummer) and there is no way I can protect my ears during a live concert sufficiently. Hell, it's difficult enough to go to a pub with loud music anymore..

Good price. :P Their albums are mostly concept. BE (2004) is about existence of God and humankind. Very complexly done with orchestra included. Scarsick (2007) is pretty much experimental. You can hear the the elements of hard-core, disco, rap, pop-rock and a lot more all wrapped in a nice package. :D The main focus there was on lyrics i believe. But in general - i cannot put them under 1 label and say - they are prog metal band. They are so much more than that.

I got into them through The Perfect Element (2000) which to this day i consider their best album and personal favorite. The second i listened was Remedy Lane (2002) and that one also is among my favorites.

Takes some time to get use to their vibe but once you do, you realize how awesome they are. And they have the best metal singer in the world (imho) so it gets quite enjoying ride with them.

Pain of Salvation - The Big Machine (1998)

Could someone give me some names of bands that are pretty heavy, but have clear vocals ?
Something like Disturbed would be nice.

You can try out stuff like Control Denied, Communic, Adagio, Psychotic Waltz, Karnivool, Malpractice, All That Remains, Alter Bridge, Nevermore, Grip Inc., pretty much a lot of Thrash bands and many others, prog, stuff like Dream Theater can be pretty heavy, or stuff like Spiral Architect that can be pretty much insane.
