The game looks.. very mature entertainment.. you know.. for those midlifed dudes in their forties

As a 30-something dude this very much appeals to me too.
ah yea, missed the post, actually thought this would go to gog right away but yea, with a talking crowd more interested in forum games, anime, and casual play its not that difficult to understand why there is more aim for EPIC then these sort of productions ;)

just picked it up and managed to loose in the first combat segment of the game ^^

on the strategic layer there is even a whole assortment of tools available to plot out courses! not to mention this antic radio device you apparently need to operate your self, with frequencies and rotating buttons!!

You've been around for 8 years and still haven't noticed that in 8 out of 10 cases there's always a discrepancy between the actual release date and when the title in question eventually makes its way onto GOG?

It's an old-style GOG game. The soyboys running GOG nowadays probably hate it, it's not indie and artsy enough.
I'm not sure why Microprose have shunned GoG, but none of their stuff is coming here.

Got a source for that?

Urban Strife, another to-be-published title by MicroProse is unofficially semi-confirmed to get a DRM-free GoG release, for instance.

Because its been nearly a year since they've started releasing and after making the slightest of a gesture on Twitter about considering a gog release have not done anything since

What do you mean? AFAIK they've only released 2 titles so far... This (which I honestly think it's a "tough-seller") and now High Fleet. All the other games are still listed as upcoming.
And let's not forget that GOG almost always gets late releases (since publishers usually want to capitalize on steam first).

We'll have to wait and see.
