Unfortunately we will never know how many additional sales they got from time limited licensing, and how many additional sales they lost out on when the licensing expired.

Normally I would agree.

On the other hand, Warner originally HAD the right to Freddy Krueger via New Line Cinema until the end of time, but there was the new US judging, that writers right revent back to the writer after 35 or 30 years.

So they lost their rights to Freddy Kueger to the Wes Craven Estate. I don't think they had planned this to happen.
