As I will suggest with all racing games or sports related titles, get a physical copy on your local craigslist.
Most NFS titles are still cheap but the old ones are now twice/thrice/frice? the prices they were ($20 instead of $5 for NFS Underground 2).
Because of licensing deals these titles will never be sold again, remade/re-imagined perhaps but that will always result in a different game.

Often older games need a little help to get running, go to PC gaming wiki to get help.

But as a sidenote to this most NFS games need a nocd/nodvd crack like a fixed exe or patch which they don't mention/host in PC gaming wiki.
EA regularly lets licenses lapse and is happy to let any old games in the series to die with them, and their newer ones are just microtransaction machines.

There's a higher chance of seeing Valve games on GOG than a release of any Need for Speed titles.

Truth007: There are still titles they can release.

nightcraw1er.488: No doubt, there are thousands of titles they could release. Of course they won’t. Nothing from EA in years. EA is focused on the heavy revenue streams, not something tiny like GOG.
It's interesting then, that they seem to have just signed a partnership deal with Zoom Platform. With them pulling UU and Syndicate, I had assumed they were abandoning smaller stores (and possibly DRM-free), but perhaps not?

They have not said what games are going to be released there. It might simply be one game, available elsewhere, and being blown out of proportion. When it comes to EA, if they offer you paradise you only need to sign in blood…

You're absolutely right. We don't know what games EA are planning to release on Zoom. It might just be one or two old, relatively obscure titles (perhaps to test the water). The timing with the de-listing of UU and Syndicate on GOG is interesting, but it might just be a coincidence. We don't know if those games are going to get released on ZP.

There is a lot of speculation going on in that other thread about ZP 'stealing' games from GOG, but imo that is premature and we will have to wait and see.

Still, I find it very interesting that EA seems to be talking with Zoom Platform. To me, it suggests they are still interested in releasing older games DRM-free and, combined the GOG de-listings, it is somewhat suggestive of a breakdown in their relationship with GOG (for whatever reason, we don't know).

EA is a gold mine of old titles which deserve a re-release. Stuff like Zany Golf, LHX, Centurion: Defender of Rome, Desert Strike, Wings of Glory, Pacific Strike, etc etc etc...
If Zoom manages to grab a deal for some of these games, they're sure to earn some good $$$.

As for the hypothetical "strained relationship" between GOG and EA, I wouldn't find that surprising. EA is a pile of dung but it's a proven fact that GOG's PR is the worst imaginable. With more and more stories emerging about devs trying to contact GOG and submit their games only to receive total "radio silence" among other bizarre stuff.
