GOG has policies that give woman paid days off every month, but they don't seem to give men paid days off every month.

I guess men don't have bad days.

So my point being, I supported GOG for a time more than steam - but that's over now. If I find out that they'll give men paid days off that is just as lenient as their menstrual policy, then I'll change my mind. Otherwise, they're just showing favor to one sex over the other. Which, is something I thought we were aiming to end in the world. guess not.

Please understand, that being a man, especially an adult white man carries the responsibility of helping all other social groups without being promoted by those groups. (...) Don't ask me. I know sheep.

I'll refrain from attaching a descriptive to the poster, but I'll have to concur that the first post is absolutely hilarious to me for all the wrong reasons.

Next thing you know, he'll be complaining about maternity leave, citing some woman who gave birth on the field and then kept working. Next step would be to have some of those guys knocking on the window of the maternity ward during a workday while some woman is giving birth screaming "why don't I get this?!?!".

In Finland there is also a "paternity leave" by law, but it is shorter than the maternity leave, and optional. Maternity leave is 105 work days (starting 30 days before the due day, and extending 75 days afterwards). Paternity leave is maximum 54 work days (paid by the state, not the employer).

On top of the maternity and paternity leave, there is also a longer "parent leave" where the wish is that both parents would share it equally, but in practice usually women use most of it, ie. stay home with the small kid. Now they want to change it to a Swedish model where both the mother and father have their own dedicated share of the parent leave, and if either one chooses not to use theirs (but work instead), the other parent can't use that share. The idea is to lure more fathers stay at home and mothers go to work, an ideological choice.

well you look at the action, not the words. action, woman isn't feeling her best so she gets paid vacation, but it doesn't knock a vacation day off.

it looks like from their writing, one of GOG's actions will not be "he's not feeling his best, so he gets a vacation day for free as well".

so i'm seeing actions that favor one sex, but not the other. unless you can show me actions they take that say otherwise, to me GOG is being sexist towards men. now where i grew up, all forms of "ism" are bad, even when it's towards a man.

Men don't have to go through menstruation which can be quite painful. It's not like women are getting a full week off every month and their very absence could still negatively impact their careers if someone outperforms them because of the aforementioned absences. There are drawbacks and benefits. If nothing else, men should be more upset about the lack of support for paternity leave when they have newborns. Now that sucks.

What in the world?

Am I living in a alternate universe?

This is so confusing.

I have no idea what is happening.

For me gog.com will forever be better than Steam any day.

If you want to get rid of your "ownership" rights, then by all means support Steam.

Oh i've been a gog user long enough to know they got their own issues. As far as i'm aware, Steam doesn't need a list to help people figure out if a dev is holding back on support and features. Which some devs are doing to GOG. It's not all sunshine and roses here.

Tell me: if you got stomach aches all day for a few days (which could be very painful) would you go to work? I see you are located in the US so you probably will because else you would be fired. As a man I like the rule that women can get a few days of paid leave when it's 'that time of the month'. It's not really favoring a sex above the other one. It's making life a bit easier so you don't have to sit in a chair all day enjoying the cramps.

So... GOG: very nice policy you have there! :D

so if a guy is just feeling depressed that day, you're not okay with giving him payed vacation that doesn't dock a vacation day? so that he doesn't have to sit there and just slug through it all day? see this is what I mean. she gets an official and openly supported out, where's his? I don't like sexism and you shouldn't either. the actions gog takes says more than their words, are they for giving everyone equal treatment or just those they want to support?
