VNI80: Am I the only one?
No. Not at all. You're not an oddity, not in the slightest. You like what you like, and what you like is pretty damned awesome. As evidenced by the replies you've gotten, I think it's pretty much safe to say that you're among many friends here.
I myself almost play and buy games exclusively on the strength of their single-player gameplay and/or their narrative. For example, I was quite happy to buy and play Wings of Liberty simply for its single-player campaign. As I hate people, and hate to be around people, I avoided Battle.net like the plague.
And incidentally, if anyone gives you grief over your preferences for gaming, you can tell them to fuck the hell off. I had one friend who routinely gives me a dismissive, judgemental look (the kind you'd imagine getting from a gossipy old lady in church) just because I haven't played many (or any) of the Mario/Zelda/Final Fantasy games when I grew up. (As if it was
my fault that I had restrictive parents, and that somehow makes me less of a "genuine gamer" to her.) It got so bad that I ended up cutting her out of my life completely.
