I think it just comes down to a tradeoff of time versus quality, certainly I think most people would agree that almost everything tastes better from the oven, but the improvement in quality doesn't always outweigh the increase in time.

Nah, it works very well for certain things, not so good for others.

But since it can be so powerful (water and jelly just looooove microwaves), one needs to know how to handle it.

There are actually cookbooks for microwave users.
I'm a big proponent of microwave ovens, having lived as a bachelor for so many years, I've perfected the secrets needed to make everything from cake, quinoa, rice, popcorn (even non-microwave popcorn), steamed vegetables, etc. in the microwave oven.

As someone who works for a living, I don't have time for 2 hour prep meals every day.
