It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Hi, I recently join gog to test it out, and i have a big issue:

When I try to download galaxy or a game I bought, the exe file is directly and automatically deleted from my download folder, so i cannot run the setup/install.

I turned off windows defender - no change
I turn off the storage management thingy - no change

I tried to find an answer somewhere but no chance.

Anyone as a suggestion? Ty for your help?

Have you tried downloading to the desktop?
I just tried, the exe file never appears on my desk...

It's almost certainly your antivirus placing the files in quarantine, as it happened to another user.

I did some scans on VirusTotal and only Cylance -- which I've never heard of -- flags the GOG Galaxy web installer as unsafe. Whatever your antivirus, be sure to do a manual check for definition updates.
GOG Galaxy Webinstaller
setuo_galaxy_2.0.61.63
GalaxyClient
GalaxyClientService

it's also possible you have a virus that infected the files, which is why they got quarantined. It's less likely that you have a virus that's erasing files, since the destructive sort are relatively rare.
i looked into the quarantine history of windows defender... nothing there. I sill have mcafee installed in my system (but it is not runing) I also check there in the quarantine file and still no trace of the exe...
Does the download ever start? Try the full GOG Galaxy installer. It should be large enough that it doesn't complete instantly.
If you never see a progress bar, but instead you get a red exclamation mark or something, then your browser is blocking the download.
If the file completes successfully, then use your browser's Show in Folder option. It should open the folder in question and select the downloaded file.
If there's still nothing, you might find a log entry explaining what's going on in the Windows Event Viewer.

If it happens to both galaxy and that game's installer, it's definitly the antivirus software.

Defender seems to overreact a little bit currently. I don't use it, so I sadly can't tell you where to look.
Make sure to update it however, maybe they already fixed it.
Someone recently had the same issue, let me see if I can find the thread, it was definitely the antivirus software.

Sorry for being that guy but you can play your single player games without Galaxy at all, just download the offline installer from the GOG's website.

Edit: I'm unable to find the thread, but pretty sure it was less than one week ago. I believe the antivirus issue was solved with Ice_Mage help.

He already said this didn't work. The setup file got deleted.
According to his post he wasn't even able to install galaxy in the first place.
I might be wrong, but you cannot fully disable Windows Defender. It will still operate, unless you install another anti-virus program or if you force Windows Defender to not run on Windows start up.

Use the exclusion settings in Windows Defender for the files you want to download instead.
Windows Security - click the Manage settings under the Virus & threat protection tab - then click the Add or remove exclusions under Exclusions section - click Add an exclusion and .choose the file you want to exclude or add folder you don't want Windows Defender to scan.
thanks for your help lads and ladies!!! I found the problem: Mozilla!!
i suspected it was an antivirus/firewall issue, even after turning all the safeguard from my browser off, the exe files were always deleted... I tried with edge... boom sorted! the exe file is not ereased ;)

Nice :)
Safeguards (and social media, never forget to mention social media) are the bane of modern society.

I got no problems with Firefox, it may depend on the routes to the servers, *shrug*
Have fun playing.

All the rest ist still valid. If you don't like launchers and don't care for achievements, you can pretty much ignore Galaxy and play offline.
Both offline installers and Galaxy install the same files, so it's up to you which install method you want to use. Galaxy sometimes adds some additional files for achievement and cloud saves handling however, these are not needed to play.
