GameRager: To be fair they had noble intentions....they wanted to stop radicalization of their youth and prevent more bad people from coming about. Too bad they didn't realize that doesn't prevent all or even most people from becoming bad.

MadalinStroe: Because governmental imposed censorship is always a good idea. I mean the prohibition worked wonders in the US, so I guess we have one successful example. ;)
I never meant to infer it was, just that they seemingly had some good intentions.

that wasn't what I meant, but don't worry about it. :D

and before I leave this thread (as I'm sure it's about to be closed), I'd like to remind everyone that "good' and "bad" are TOTALLY SUBJECTIVE TERMS,

clarry: I swear every time someone asks about a game they can't find, the answer is "Germany." And these posts are quite frequent..

Germany should start paying the rest of the world a tax for the nuisance they cause :)

GameRager: One would think these games would get de-indexed as well given how others have been so far this year.
iirc the minimum time for a game to potentially get taken off the index is 20 years

Nope.

You can motion for having a game removed from the index whenever you want to. It's recommended to wait for a few year to allow for new decision guidelines to evolve, but technically you could go for it on day one. After ten years you can motion for a delisting in a simplified proceeding.

Apart from actively seeking a delisting there is also an automated process. Every item will be automatically delisted after 25 years unless the Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons actively reviews the item and issues a substantiated "consecutive ban" ("Folgeindizierung").

What if they make a mistake and need to remove a game or other piece of media quickly?

That and other things. Also, fair enough. I was mainly trying to play devil's advocate a bit and see some good in something bad.

Thanks for the info and clarifications.....it is appreciated to hear more on various gaming related issues from other countries.

Happens to me almost daily lately, ending up with pages in German and prices in Euro. Adding a game to the basket and checking it out (without having to buy it) also helps for me to get back the proper store localization.
