Just bought the whole package of Myst games because I wanted to revisit them and am real disappointed in graphics quality, it's just like playing on a 15year old pc! Also when I install some (riven for instance) then click play they don't play. My pc is bang up to date HP envy desktop and I'm running windows 8.1.

lol... the Myst series are 15+ years old. What were you expecting?

As for the Riven issues: try posting on the troubleshoot section or see if there's any post there that can help you.

I don't understand. Were you expecting state of the art graphics from a 20 year old game?

Not running is a whole different beast, can't help you there other than advising to contact support and/or check the game specific forum

Well, some of them are rather old though. What did you expect?!

As to not running, add them to the list of DEP exceptions and they probably will.

GOG does not update graphics, so not sure why you think they should be better than they were originally. As for the launch issues, did you check the Myst/Riven specific game forum? A quick look shows a thread Here that may possibly have a solution.

Um, what were you expecting, graphics-wise? These are not "HD remasters" of old games, they are just old games, exactly as they originally were, outdated graphics and all.

As for some not working, we might be able to help you with that, but since you didn't provide any details like your hardware specs or what, if any, error messages you may have received, there is not much we can immediately do.

Seriously, the poor guy got hit with nostalgia let down and every one of us has suffered that. We have such fond memories of a game that was so big for us years and years ago and when we finally get a chance to revisit it we realize it hasn't aged well or it just flat out sucked to begin with and we were too young and stupid to realize it way back when. XD

myst is 23 years old
the graphics are nto updated by gog these are not remasters or updates just old games tweaked to run on modern systems
so you get 23 year old graphics

and for 23 years old the myst games still look great

Sometimes we have good suprises. When I was younger I thought Chaos Gate was too dark and gloomy for my taste. And the UI seemed clunky - even back in those days.

When GOG recently launched it I was amazed to how good and playable it turned out to be.

Maybe he was expecting more from the Masterpiece Edition, which was supposed to improve somewhat on the original graphics, wasn't it? But I guess even the Masterpiece Edition is 15 years old now.

Hmm, maybe he's talking about realMyst Masterpiece Edition...

Regardless, yeah, you can't expect miracle even from a remaster.
