Hey y'all, so I've recently been trying to learn game development for the last few months starting since March, and I recently finished and uploaded a game onto the Play Store about a month ago. Now that it's done, I kinda took a little break from developing more games, but then I got an idea for a really dumb, simple game on mobile while I was watching this video on YouTube, and it made me realize; "How many people can think of dumb, but potentially fun ideas for tiny mobile games just based on their ideas or regular experiences?"

I won't steal any of them of course, since I probably wouldn't be able to deliver on them anyway, but what have you guys thought of? (also, doesn't have to be a mobile game)

Actually, I had that idea. The idea is that you start the game, take a nap, and check back at it. If you check within 20 minutes (or however long it's set for), you get a score based on how long you rested; the longer, the better the score. If, however, you take too long, you lose the game and get this worst possible time.

Also, to the OP, not everyone here is a guy.
An Arkanoid with some extra physics: Gravity affects the ball, and the damage it makes to bricks depends on its kinetic energy. I made something like that some years ago...

Also, don't believe dtgreene. We are all genderless by default, and don't feel offended by how people adresses us.
I had a game idea based on ragdoll physics and accelerators / the movement of your phone. In the game, the screen of your phone is like a window on a tiny room the same size as your phone. A character is standing in the room and your goal is to move your phone around to see how much you can smack the character around the room. When you stop moving the phone, the character will try to stand back up. On higher difficulty settings, the character will be better at staying balanced.

You can chose what your character looks like and also add other things in the room like physics based objects (balls, cubes, furniture, etc) or even water. Different levels could involve different types of rooms.

Do you remember those old handheld water games where you try to put little rings on a post or balls in a basket, etc? You could make a digital version of that. It's been done before though:

One other idea is a simple bubble popping game. I don't mean like Bust a Move. I mean soap bubbles float onto the screen and you tap them to pop them. I see that as more of a relaxing game to waste time when standing in line at the post office, etc.

Feel free to make a game using that idea if you want. I'm not going to.

Dumb and simple, well that covers mobile "gaming". How about move the hole, or tap the screen, or stare zombified at fuckwitsbook. Ah, already covered.

You're saying that like you are the only one who reads this thread.

Also, in my expirience, no matter how dumb, foolish and insane the idea for a game is in someone's mind, someone has already implemented it (or at leas tried.

Already done. :P
VR weed killer. By hand.
You go around ripping weeds out.
More points for speed and not accidentally ripping out flowers.
Certain threshold of points open different levels.

Higher levels have you work in more and more crowded parks.
If you bump into people, you drop weeds and lose points.

Could include thirst meter, limited weeds you can carry at once, and morale.
Morale decreases when people bump into you, low enough morale and you quit your job.
Upgrades are available for these. Camelbaks, bigger trash bags, alcohol for morale.

I'm getting too involved in this fake game about a menial task.
Did Donut County inspire this thread as well? :D

dtgreene: Also, to the OP, not everyone here is a guy.
Unless specifically implying males in the context, "guys" is usually considered gender neutral. Heck, I've heard it used/seen it used by women within the group of women.

Do you not accept that?

That does look fun! Too bad it isn't on GOG.
Well, let's pretend that we can influence which games appear here: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/grey_cubes
