It’s time for another great classic from SNEG – Captain Blood is now available on GOG with a 10% launch discount until May 12th!

It’s a pirate-themed action game where you play as a fearsome pirate seeking gold and glory. Expect adventures with cannon firing, pistol shooting, swashbuckling sword fights, and plenty of pirate shenanigans. This hack'n'slash features fierce combat, hordes of enemies and flashy combos.

Now on GOG!

Bought.

Obligatory reminder to drop a vote or two on the OG Captain Blood from 1988 (over 1000 legacy community wishlist votes), as well as on its sequels Commander Blood & Big Bug Bang, while you're at it.
3 weeks after the latest demo? Wonder how much stuff they managed to fix in that time... :/
A good game... had it been released twenty years ago.
Doesn't look appealing to me

GOG: remember - no russian!
Publishes russian game anyway.
What a remarkable consistency. xD

- it sorta is, it was supposed to be released in 2008-2009 if i remember correctly, but than due to various shenanigans it was shelved right before going gold.

This tracing back its inception/original development to 2004 already makes it superior to almost anything released nowadays, I couldn't care less how it looks graphically.

Except that GOG doesn't publish but sells this, just like the other distribution platforms.

- GOG essentially acts a as a second hand publisher for this game. They take a cut from profit just like any other publisher would. I dont get why you decided to chim in. First hand digital stores are essentially publishers. Steam, GOG, EPIC etc. Days when term "game publisher" only ment company that financed product are gone. In todays world digital platforms are reigning supreme.

I wouldn't quite agree with you. Yes, both SNEG (the publisher) and Seawolf (the developer) have founders with Russian roots, but they are both UK-based companies today. And while Captain Blood was originally developed by Akella, SNEG acquired the rights after Akella folded.

But the short and tall of it is that the companies currently involved are both UK companies.

Don't see a problem either way.
The original developer doesn't exist anymore, the studios responsible for finishing up the development, Seawolf Studios & General Arcade are based in England & Singapore/Malaysia respectively, and SNEG, the publisher, founded by two former GOG staff members, is operating out of London.

- there are none. It was mostly a jab at GOG/CD Project. As for company registration... majority of russian/ukrainian/belorussian companies are registered in other countries. Good example is Saber, which is "american" company with most important and vauable assets in... Russia.
man, bamboozled again. lol.

saw the notification. came to check up on it...

...and it's still not captain blood from 1988, which is the version of the game i actually want. ah well. back to lurking ;)
Bought it the moment the notification popped. Will try it out soon, once my slow ass internet gets it downloaded.
I see this is historically accurate and realistic pirate sim!

SNEG is not a Russian publisher, they are based and live in London. The founder of SNEG worked at GOG and at that time he no longer lived in Russia.
