It’s time for another great classic from SNEG – Captain Blood is now available on GOG with a 10% launch discount until May 12th!

It’s a pirate-themed action game where you play as a fearsome pirate seeking gold and glory. Expect adventures with cannon firing, pistol shooting, swashbuckling sword fights, and plenty of pirate shenanigans. This hack'n'slash features fierce combat, hordes of enemies and flashy combos.

Now on GOG!

Aleksandr.Mgn: SNEG is not a Russian publisher, they are based and live in another country. The founder of SNEG worked at GOG, and at that time he no longer lived in Russia.
- i dont care, really. And i didnt said anything about SNEG anyway.

Shiver me timbers - a pirate game with tongue-in-cheek humor! I need this!
It's still the wrong Captain Blood!
Purchased, saw a playthrough on Youtube and it looked like fun.
Most peculiar that it has a Mac version, considering that SNEG's catalog is devoid of such other than what was initially released by GOG of ye olde SSI property, and that only because they were DOS titles. Even their "newer" DOS releases are Windows-only.
Commander Blood is one of my favorite obscure games of all time... except I haven't played it in 25+ years. Wonder if this has any of the same spirit.

This is nothing alike; this is land & sea based, not spaced and pictograph based.

Edit: Reviews suggest this game has an awful audio mix and plays like an Xbox 360 game. Rough.

How do you save in the game / where are the checkpoints? Do you basically need to complete the whole level to save and start from the beginning of the level each time otherwise?

UPDATE:

Looks like it's mostly tutorial level that's so long. Later on checkpoints are more frequent.

As the story of Captain Blood is fondly remembered by me I took a look and certainly not a game for me.
Not the Captain Blood I expected. Pass.

Also the url tags don't work.

i think it is because of the URL ending with brackets, GOGs foums have never been able to handle them.

This works

This looks like it could be fun, but I'm afraid it will just be a "member the 2000s hack and slash?" mid trip, without any of the quality of said games ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The game with a long and difficult past has finally reached its final release, and that’s great! It’s a cool and dynamic sea adventure with a brutal hero. Although the gameplay is simple and fun, in the context of the lack of good Action/Adventure games in a sea setting, it’s a breath of fresh air.
