I heard Neverwinter Nights 2 is getting a remake. Is it true? I was thinking about getting the old version 2006 sooner or later, but then I saw someone speaking about a NWN2 remake, should I wait or go for the older version?

Firstly, it is officially not announced yet; there is just some entry on steamdb.
Secondly, it won't be a remake, but an enhancement. Which basically means: upscaled textures to 4k, compatibility with newer OSs, maybe some new content (as a teaser for those who own the original already). A good roundup what the data on steamdb tell is here.
Thirdly, whether it will come to gog? Who knows ...

Thanks, I think I'll get the first game Enhanced Edition first too! I don't mind the wait. :)

HelloApollo: Am i the only one not seeing this as a campaign ingame? Cant choose it no matter what i do (tried downloading offline installer and installing it manualy).

Update: just noticed that Doom of Icewind Dale actually downloads the installer for Dark Dreams of Furiae. Its also strange the installer seems to be for an older version of the base game?
Same here. Just bought and downloaded and no sign of it when starting a new game.

There is an update for NWN EE too.
Maybe?

gog2002x: Does this mean the Deluxe edition is going to get updated again?

I'm glad to see it here, but I guess there will never be a complete edition lol. I already have one receipt that says "-old" and now maybe the new one will be renamed to "-old 2" or something heh.

HunchBluntley: Looking on GOG Db, the current iteration of the bundle is already the third one. The current one would have to become "-old 3" :D
Damn, that's getting really "-old xxx" fast or maybe Neverwinter is like wine...gets better with age? =P

NeverwinterKnight: You are glossing over "Darkness over Daggerford" and "Tyrants of the Moonsea" there.

Those modules were written by the same person who wrote this new release.
I wasn't trying to gloss over anything, just venturing an opinion that the official expansions are higher quality than the OC. I have heard many of the premium and user-made modules are also very good. I haven't found the time to play those two, but I'd like to give them a try some day.

Imo, a new player to NWN would be better served by starting with just about any other module than the original campaign. I can imagine it must have put off a good many players from NWN over the years, especially given the high expectations people had coming from Baldur's Gate etc. Thankfully, Shadows of Undrentide starts again at level 1 and seems to have practically no narrative link to the OC. It's clear that it was intended as a fresh/alternative starting point (and for a good reason).
I guess the complete version isn't really complete any more.

I can verify this. The issue with the OC (Wailing Death) isn't that it is completely bad as there are good spots, like Rolgan's Trial and Charwood, but people really should treat is more as a giant tech demo as an example of what can be accomplished with the game engine....

And even then, there are user created modules that can be downloaded for free that surpass it.

Nothing is complete when you can make money from it.

It depends on the perspective. And the perspective is changing by the variable named time. At the given time, it was complete. It's like the evolution of animals: they were always complete at every time, but their parameters were always different.

I was just joking.
A new premium module? Interesting.

Erm...sure.
