Hello,

I wanted to broaden my genre a little bit and looked at the point and click adventure genre because I am very interested in something like that.

Are there any recommended games that are easily accessible to start with?

From my point of view it can be a bit challenging, but it should at least be in the frame, so that you don't have to rely on a walkthrough the whole time

I'm open to pretty much everything, whether it's modern or retro.
Maybe Morpheus
One of my favourite old school point & click is The Legend Of Kyrandia: very easy to handle and still a very beautiful game. The game has two good sequel: Kyrandia: Hand of Fate and Kyrandia: Malcom's Revenge, all available here on GOG.

About recent games, I've read many good feedbacks for Gibbous A Cthulu Adventure.

The Legend Of Kyrandia is a good game with real labyrinths, particularly worked riddles, only problem is that the game is old so the graphics and music are very bad.

I highly recommend Syberia 1 and 2. It was my first foray into the point and click genre and they're such great games. Still very charming, even it's old age. I think the puzzles were designed fairly well. I think I maybe looked up one or two solutions in each game but that's just me, your own puzzle solving abilities may be quite different from my own.

Another recommendation I have is Machinarium. An equally charming game with a lovely art style/design. I personally found two or so of the later puzzles to be too hard so I had to look them up, but again, your own experience may vary. I still greatly recommend it. I recall the soundtrack is very good as well. Each of these games is here on GOG. Hope that helps!

Primordia
For all of these games (especially Kyrandia and its labyrinths), I needed a whole lot of walkthrough :D.
I would suggest Unavowed. And perhaps the Blackwell series. And if you want retro gorgeousness, Loom.

I'm "obligated" to mention the Pajama Sam games, especially Vol. 1, but they are aimed at children so they may be too easy. Also they're missing non-English languages compared to their Steam versions.

Flight of the Amazon Queen is free here and it's quite good, but I found I had to user a walkthrough in several parts.
Gemini Rue. https://www.gog.com/game/gemini_rue
Point and click with cyberpunk atmosphere and pretty interesting story.
A number of Amanita Design's titles - https://www.gog.com/games?devpub=amanita_design&page=1&sort=popularity

(Acknowledging that Machinarium was already put out there, but the rest are worth mentioning as well - Botanicula in particular)

A very old game but as a guy who's not really into the point and click genre, I really enjoyed Beneath the Steel Sky. For such a simple game, it really immersed me. Now, I'm want a remake or a sequel. lol
Thanks for the replies, that helped me a lot
Get Broken Sword and Broken Sword 2 - great stories and characters

Back to The Future if you're any fan of the movies, this is great

Hector Badge of Carnage - very funny in a crude kind of way

The Book of Unwritten Tales 1 and 2 - great characters and story again

Gabriel Knight 1-3 - a real adventure
