Unrealistic. People are being locked down stuck at home for days/weeks or more with nothing to do. Video games are the single largest form of entertainment on Earth for quite a few years now, and booming more than ever. Since the quarantines started Steam has broken new records for largest number of gamers online simultaneously ever, and we can rest assured that this is true for every other gaming service out there too.

Gamers playing games are also buying games, and that means all gaming sites will be rolling in cash right now and likely for time to come. Some people of course will be in a bad financial situation but there are plenty out there who wont be and who can more than afford to buy and play games more than usual to boost sales across the board. Add to that that GOG is having one of their largest gaming sales of the year, plus it looks like one of the largest ones ever in terms of the number of games and of discounts and I imagine GOG is raking in the cash something fierce right now.

If anything they're probably trying to hire new people to handle the support load.

skeletonbow: Gamers playing games are also buying games
I've found that the less time I have for actually playing games, the more I buy, and vice versa. When I'm totally involved in a game, I don't feel the need to buy something else. So from that perspective, more people actually playing might not be that good for video game sellers. ;)

(Just kidding.)

I would think this whole situation would be a boost to places like GOG (in terms of sales of games). So many more people with so much more time on their hands.

Covid-19 is kind of unique for us all (in terms of disruption) but traditionally when less people work (in a usual economic downturn) they buy more games.

huppumies: It's pretty unlikely that the site would go down at this point in time though.

Trooper1270: But still possible though, no ?. Because everything is possible, except things that are impossible... :p
everything is possible, some things are just highly improbable

This is self contradictory.

Can you give me an example of something that's impossible? Whether you answer yes or no, you have a counterexample. Ergo, by law of excluded middle, the statement is false.

Well, my response was a little 'tongue in cheek'. But then, there are lots of things that are impossible, but a number of the actual (end) goals can usually (or eventually) be achieved by particular (or sometimes currently unavailable) means.

Not highly improbable or impossibly improbable, but possibly improbable... maybe.
What kind of fumes have you been huffing, and can I get some?

GOG is purely an internet business. Their offices could be empty and all anyone has to do is remote in. As others said, what a better time than now to harvest?

buckbeach: Any chance that this site and other online gaming sites will be shut down due to the virsis and staff problems?
Depends. Have you updated your anti-virus software to protect your PC against that virus? Otherwise you might spread it to the forum and from there it would infect the GOG staff!
