If you love dynamic sci-fi games set in the unforgiving world of the future, then we have a special offer you should look into! When you buy MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries in our store, GOG will gift you a complimentary copy of The Surge!

The serial key to redeem this game will be added to your GOG library automatically after purchasing MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries (please access the “serial numbers” section of the library through your browser).
This offer is available until the 2nd of June, 2021, 12 PM UTC, yet the serial key you acquire thanks to it stays active until you redeem the game at any time in the future.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is a dynamic action-simulation game that takes you to the year 3015 when humanity has colonized thousands of space systems. A vast region of space is splintered by centuries of conflict with the battlefields of the future dominated by MechWarriors, elite pilots of hulking machines of war known as BattleMechs. Now it’s your turn to become one of those elite warriors!
This is a really nice offer from GOG to give an extra game as gift next to a sale. Sadly the mech genre isn't my favorit and I already own The Surge (great game BTW), but it's a nice gesture. I hope this could become a trend, and also hope this will rise the sale numbers so that way both parties benefits from it.

mqstout: Awaiting word that the offline installers are feature complete and there's no "registration bonus" shenanigans, and that the "Inner Sphere" bits are also included in the offline installers. (See, GOG, what happens when you start allowing games with DRM in? We have to question every darned release, and I hate that you've done that to us.)
This.
And please check if game settings and saves are working WITHOUT Galaxy.

Fanam: Yes you do

mikeap72: Thank You for the quick response!
You’re welcome. Glad I could be of assistance.

In case this still is useful, apart from multiplayer/coop only working with Galaxy - I did not experience any issues at all with saves/settings not working or saving, when installed from an offline installer.

Edited a minute later: Inner Sphere is available as separate installer - I did not notice any feature missing or requiring an online component, apart from multiplayer. Screenshot of installer download section attached.

Thank you for reporting back. I'm glad to hear it. I wish the multiplayer were DRM-free, too, but, sadly, that ship has sailed and only the best of products seem to get that. (It's also sad that GOG's made us have to ask the "Is it DRM-free question?")
I'm torn on the multiplayer thing. On the one hand, developers lean heavily on Steam/Galaxy/whatever APIs in lieu of writing their own netcode that's expensive and unpleasant to maintain and I fully understand the logic that less resources on plumbing stuff means more resources on plot, game mechanics, etc. But on the other hand, vendor lock in sucks and sooner or later the server always gets unplugged.

I typically approach "DRM free" in the scope of the single player experience and whether it passes the log cabin test, with multiplayer as just a nice bonus. The one situation where I do undeniably get aggravated is what happened with the Saints Row 3 refresh where it was once there but went away because reasons.

Boy I, miss those times before galaxy, when it wasn't necessary to ask those questions...
