sunshinecorp: OK, this is going to sound condescending, but I don't mean it like that, I honestly just want to know. Aren't you bored of all the superhero hype? Both DC and Marvel? They're becoming the new "zombies".
Depends on what's being done with it an how. I'm definately tired of the "Marvel formula" and their mostly shitty, overrated movies. But I'm a big superhero comics fan, especially DC, so if it's something new and looks like it's being done with some, even small, degree of fresh ideas, then I'm interested.

I'm looking forward to Batman v Superman, Wonder Woman and Suicide Squad because they look like they might be good, and "different", and/or showcase characters we've never seen on screen yet. And to X-Men Apocalypse, as Singer's X-Men movies were all good. But I have zero expectations from Marvel movies at this point. I agree, there is a shitload of superhero stuff around right now, I totally get how some people might be getting sick of it. In fact, I expected as much by this point.

Not really. You know what superhero movies I got as a kid? Spawn. The Phantom. Batman & Robin. I still regularly have nightmares about waking up in the 90s.

Blade was good though.

Spider-Man died with Toby Maguire.
I don't really like it, but I'm thinking, why the old spidey suit at all? Isn't it supposed to be Iron Spider at this point?

I think the last "adaptation" I really enjoyed was the Jessica Jones TV series, and the Daredevil series before that.

Not at all. As they make more movies, and start looking for new concepts, it only gets more interesting.

We had a movie on Guardians of the Galaxy of all things, and a series on Jessica Jones that I thought was a genuinely good drama. This year we'll get Batman and Superman together on screen for the very first time, not mentioning all the other Justice League Members. We'll get Suicide Squad, featuring characters like Slipknot and Captain Boomerang. And at the end of the year we have Doctor Strange.

We've come a long way from the time when the only superhero movies being made were Batman, Spiderman and X-Men, and even those seem to have a bright future ahead of them. If they hadn't expanded the way they did after Iron Man, we'd just be seeing an Iron Man reboot right about now.

A lot of those movies were shit, but there was good stuff too. I know I'm in the minority here, but I still think Lundgren's Punisher was pretty much perfect, and I really don't think the new version on Daredevil will be nearly as good. And for all the bad superhero live action stuff, we had the best animated shows and movies. The animated stuff DC made back in the 90s is still better than most live action movies today. Hell, even the animated Spider-Man series from the 90s, while not nearly as good as DC stuff, was better than any live action Spider-Man movie so far.

Elmofongo: It looks too cartoony its like if an animated version of Spiderman from a cartoon just came to life.
avatar
Pseudoman: It might be a work-in-progress digital effect like some of the shots in early trailers for Jurassic World.

Either that or it was one extremely well-executed set of shots involving choreography, gymnastics, and animatronics.
This was my thought as well. There is no way that was "final release" special effect. The CGI Spidey was definitely missing a layer of texture or shading or something that I would expect to see in the final version.

Also, I don't care what all y'all say about which is the best costume, this one has comic-accurate "squinty eyes". That is "drop the mic" awesome in my book.

Elmofongo: Am I the only one who thinks the costume looks......Wrong?

Well, there IS that big round thing he's holding on his right arm... so yeah, I think it looks wrong-ish.
The eyes finally not being just two big static/stationary screens is offset by how weirdly cartoon-y it is to see them in action.

This reveal felt a bit ho-hum though. For all the hype surrounding his inclusion in the film, you'd think there would've been more to it than Tony basically whistling for his pet spider.

I would not mind CGI, but the CGI on the suit just looks too "cartoony" it feels like there is no texture.

I mean obviously compare it to the Iron Man suit it is designed as best as it can to blend with the real live sets and actors,

But the Spiderman suit just looks like a complete Cartoon Character superimposed in the background.

Its the equivilant of having a cartoony looking Mario in the photo realistic enviornment of Crysis 1.

I think it's a strange idea to have him be introduced in this movie at all. I know he was a big part of the comic, but let's be honest- other than the title this has little to nothing to do with that story. And having Spider-Man appear out of the blue to take part in the middle of a fight between established characters feels just out of place.

That was my point, it is clearly NOT a completed effect, hence why it does look superimposed and out of place. They haven't actually finished making the movie yet (still in editing and post production), so I would expect when it does come out, the CGI Spidey will look as "real" as Iron Man does.
I swear if they are going to make another reboot for spiderman with the same villians, I will start smashing pumpkins with my forehead.

Sick and tired of reboots.
I'm willing to give it a chance at this point (perhaps when the trailer was cut Spidey's suit wasn't fully finalized in post-production) but was anyone else annoyed at the animated eyes? I actually thought Deadpool did that sort of thing better.

If they do put it in there, the impression I'm getting is that Parker would get the Iron Spider armor after his initial encounter with Captain America's side. But it'll all greatly depend on how much they're going to diverge from the comic book storyline. My guess is that apart from the big event seen in Captain America #25, we're not going to see much else apart from "big franchise properties punching each other in the face".
