So, I purchased an M.2 drive since it was a good price to add to my system which had three other storage devices on it (one 128GB M.2, one 250GB SSD, and one 1 TB HDD) and installed it earlier today. When I installed it and checked the disk management program it did not show either the new M.2 nor my SSD. I then powered off and re inserted the M.2 and it is now up and running just fine but I cannot figure out why the SSD will not show up either in the BIOS nor Disk Management. If anyone has a suggestion, please feel free to tell me.

Specs:

Windows 10 Pro
MSI MPG Z390
i3-9100f
WD Black 1TB HDD
Crucial MX 500 250GB SSD (This is the one giving me trouble)
2x8GB TridentZ RGB DDR4 from G.Skill
Intel SSD5 M.2 SATA III 128GB (this is the boot drive)
1TB Samsung V-NAND SSD 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2
EVGA 450 B PSU
Gigabyte GTX 1070

There is also a DVD drive that does not burn (wish I knew that before I installed the stupid thing) and two extra fans. I don't know if it is relevant but I do not overclock but my RAM is running at 3200GHZ. The Crucial SSD was running just fine before the Samsung M.2 was installed. I've checked the wires and even replaced the SATA data cable but no good (last time it was not recognized was because of a bad cable). Just to make clear the drive that is not recognized is not the new Samsung M.2 but the Crucial SSD.

Have you got a second machine you can try the drive in? Or a USB drive caddy (something like this):

https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-External-Lay-Flat-Docking-EC-DFLT/dp/B00LS5NFQ2/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=sabrent+drive+caddy&qid=1609366831&sr=8-8
It’s almost never a bad cable. They don’t move, so they almost never break. But stranger things have happened.

Many MOBOs need a specific SATA port used in a specific order. So be sure you’re plugged into the correct one. You’ll usually see SATA0 through SATA3 or higher. Plug the SSD into 0 and the DVD into 1.

Also, reseat all SATA and power cables on both sides (drive side and MOBO side).

If that doesn’t work, try unplugging everything and starting over. SSD only. Then add dvd. Then m.2. See where it breaks. Then research why that component is breaking detection for your specific hardware.

Also, does your PC recognize the m.2? There are different m.2 ports and some don’t support storage.

Can't think of much other than perhaps a bad SATA channel. Did you try hooking it up to a different SATA port? Only other thing I can think of is the drive may be dead. Any chance you can test it in another machine?

I've had this issue twice, and both times it was contact getting loose, replugging the drive helped.
your m2 probably blocks the sata slot
read the motherboard manual
this is a motherboard bus limitation, it cant support all those io-s at the same time
if you have free sata slot i think you only need to use another one

Well, a very big thank you to everyone who replied. TL;DR, Orkhepaj got it.

So, order of operations, I tried it in an external drive reader and it worked, I tried it in another system and it worked there. I tried it in another SATA slot and it still did not work so after looking at the chart in the manual I picked what looked to be the correct combo and lo and behold it works. Now, the only games on that drive do not work very well, but I already knew that.

Thanks very much to everyone once again.

You'd think I coulda thought of that, but you'd have thought wrong.

Thank a lot, your rep may even be slightly less negative for a second.

Solution 1: (free) Set the NVME to SATA speed in BIOS.
Solution 2: (costs money) Buy a PCIe SATA card.*
*This is the one I bought, work perfectly (for me):

Awesome, wish I knew about those instead of breaking my fingers trying to cram all those wires into my mobo's ports.

What does that mean? Why wouldn't games work on it well?

They're Metro Exodus and Project Wingman.

Project Wingman actually should be fine now but Exodus gives me trouble still (occasionally really long load times, crashes, that kind of thing.)

Oh, ok, the games don't generally work well? I thought you meant the games don't work well due to the drive itself..

Nah, my bad.

Near as I can tell the drive works perfectly as long as I'm doing everything right.
Metro basically is just being Metro (I went into the files to have it skip the intro and now it just leaves me on the load screen for a comparable amount of time.) and Wingman gave me issues mostly when I was installing it.
