So its official! Starbound is leaving "In Dev" status July 22nd ^_^

Unstable branch just got a (almost) gigabyte patch a few days ago.... so know i know what that was for. Its finally a game, with quests, NPC's a story, a reason to play.

Its been a long fun road and its all finally paying off. For those that may not know, Starbound is pretty much No Man's Sky as a side scroller with Terraria like crafting

About time! It's been a long ride, can't wait to test full version what it feels like. I have 26 hours in it and it could have been way more but i was working and had no time to play back then. Certainly a time consumer. :P
We'll see. This isn't the first deadline they've missed.

Also, for a progression based game, I don't see how they're going to get by with 4 or 5 main bosses. I guess the Bone Dragon and other past bosses were just too cool for Starbound.

thanks for the heads-up - i'm now in the process of selecting what fucks to give
So if the promises are true the reviews in the game page will change considerably... And we'll have to figure out which reviews refer to the in-dev or final versions based on the date. And those current 3 stars due mostly to lack of content and the game being unfinished will remain averaged forever in the game rating.

But I guess the ability to edit reviews/ratings is still low in GOG's priority list?
I don't feel like they give a flying fuck about their customers so I can't say I'm particularly excited.
I've patiently waited for over two years, I can wait two weeks more. ;)

Indeed. Weren't the developers accused of poorly managing the development of this game?

I've had my eye on this game for a long time, but it's my personal fear that this is going to wind up like Spacebase DF-9.

Sort of, more like bad communication.. but they started up activly blogging and hit twitter hard added new poeple and brought out some massive patches which added content long promised, which worked... and works well.

There last few changlogs are book worthy of what they are trying to accomplish... far more then Tarraria ever did.... that said i am a fan of both... I just feel starbound has more going for it right now, more to do, more story and less micromanagment of environment.

Let me put it this way. Dwarf Fortress now has a 64-bit version and is heading into another arc of development, due to trundle toward DF .50. (50 core features.) In the same amount of time, Starbound internally rebooted itself thrice (as far as I can tell), and still can't make up its mind on what mechanics to keep but has plenty of time to add tons of pointless clutter that you'll at most use once and then discard forever.

In the time that it took Starbound to start development in 2013 And somehow lose track of their buttocks multiple times, Dwarf Fortress jumped up from 34 core features completed to 43.

Now that might seem to quick, but Dwarf Fortress is created with all of TWO PEOPLE. And actually has a clear development plan, unlike the ADHD development that Starbound suffers under.
So how does this work if I bought the IN Dev (which I was beginning to think was a waste, but alas I'm gratefully wrong).

Do I get a code, an update notification?

And speaking of InDev, I think I figured out ciomalau's problem, he was born eight and half months premature.

The game would be updated and you might or might not get an update notification.
