Thought I'd share this news I heard: Telltale games "is being revived after its assets were purchased by a company called LCG Entertainment. The new company will sell some of Telltale’s back catalog and will work on new games based on a few Telltale-associated properties, as well as new licenses." They've got license to release the old IP's "Wolf Among Us", "Batman" and old games of theirs like Puzzle Agent, but not for The Walking Dead, that was bought by Skybound.

I miss a mention to Tales of Monkey Island and the Sam & Max series. I hope they are not in IP rights hell and may return to GOG one day.

Glad to hear it, I still hope to get Telltale Batman. Don't forget Wallace & Gromit - it was definately my favorite of their games.

I really liked A Wolf Among Us. If there's a sequel, I hope it's as well written. Pretty sure Disney owns the IPs for those. They released the remasters of the old titles after all. At the very least the own the Sam & Max and Monkey Island game IPs.

No debate, when Disney bought Lucas company, Lucasarts and all it's IP's were included in the deal.
Disney might not be opposed to tetting Telltale continue to use the charecters, but it would be under licence. The company that bought Telltale also got all of Telltale's licenses as part of the deal.

They own Monkey Island, but not Sam & Max. Remember, Sam & Max didn't originate with the game, but the comics, and I'm pretty sure they belong to the original comics creator Steve Purcell (who happened to also work at Lucas Arts when the original game was made) and the license for Telltale to make their games was independant of the license LucasArts used to have before that.

Ah, you're right, for some reason I thought there was a Sam & Max Remastered version, but there isn't.

Amusingly, with Disney's ownership of LucasArts and Pixar, Steve Purcell and the old Sam & Max game are back under one roof.

I don't know if "revived" is the correct term. They have absolutely nothing to do with Telltale. But maybe they'll do good.. but until they'd proven themselves, I'd be wary.

I did like Telltale in the beginning when they made great adventure games like Sam & Max.
However, after all that licensed stuff started, I lost interest. Always the same style of games with rather meaningless choices that don't change much.
Let's see if they pull off a decent Sam & Max game. I really like the characters.

Looks like Sam & Max is back on Steam at least.
