If the hype is true, will GOG offer the Oblivion remake or remaster as a standalone for-sale item, or as an upgrade for existing Oblivion owners, or both?
All of the lastest releases of Xbox Game Studios, which Bethesda is now part of, are Steam/Gamepass only. Most likely GOG won't offer anything at all.
Skyblivion might be the better alternative anyway.

Especially on GOG, you know on whatever BS releases on Steam it's getting an "In-Game Cash Shop" & probably after release, not before as that is what the last 3 BGS Single Player releases have done, Months (edit not moths, but it fits) & years after release.

That was the entire reason I went from providing 80% of "Official" (it is a mod, so Tannin approval) User Support for Mod Organizer from 2013-16, to not touching a BGS game from the day the Creation Club Launched & permanently removing every BGS game from my Steam Account.

It wasn't until, "Fallout London" released that I even modded a BGS game again, because F4 & SSE were now on GOG where Single Player cash shops are effectively banned from GOG, due to Galaxy being optional & parity of service rules.

I never stopped modding games, I simply won't play any games that have a "In-Game Cash Shop" attached.

Who knows. If they don't make it a jungle, they'll be cowards anyway.

And Project Tamriel is better!
As long as they don't bundle it with the original with a price hike, or worse yet pull the original from the store altogether, it's a big old shrug from me.
I wouldn't be surprised if the community-made Skyblivion ends up being better done/more playable than what Bethesda ends up putting out. Don't get me wrong, I quite enjoy a number of Bethesda games, but they're getting notorious for leaving them with many unfixed bugs after their final patches, which end up getting fixed by community-made patches.

Agreed! Original Oblivion must not be replaced with the remade or remastered edition.
It probably needs a remake. They learned a ton from Skyrim and from ESO. They could rebuild the original game from scratch and overhaul the leveling system entirely (that was a scaling nightmare). It doesn't really need a remaster since it looks OK-ish right now. From a time that all developers were going craze with bloom, but still not *that* bad. Most of the issues players had with game were mechanical and possible late-game design.

That's a separate point though. I'd prefer if they remastered/remade earlier ES games. Most Skyrim players never picked up even Morrowind, let alone anything prior. Start with Arena and go from there!
I'd be surprised if the game come here right away to be fair. They seems to be so focused on their gamepass and steam only atm that even Epic didn't get the Indiana Jones which was a surprised to me. I know its different studio but under Bethesda. I am curios to see what they have done though. I am not as hyped even though I am big fan of TES games . I think the current Oblivion version gave me everything I needed and I just don't think they will change some major things that I hated to be worth playing again. If they deal with the enemy scaling though it would be great for anyone who has not played it yet!
Here we go. Right?

From what I read multiple titles got similar updates where the trailers were removed not just Oblivion - it seems to be happening to a lot of games not just bethesda games like even The WItcher 3 got its trailer removed and then it was added again. It could be a Steam thing.

I'd wait for PEGI ratings or ESRB listings.
Aren't we still waiting on the promised Fallout 4 upgrade?
Bit early to hope for yet another Bethesda product before the previous one actually got here.
