EDIT - btw pH7 - I understand you don't have much time, but if you would release your wishlist, it would give us chance to repay your generosity, when we can :)
I'm quoting you, but this reply is for everyone with similar thoughts.
That's not necessary. Of course, if you are at some point in position to "pay it forward", feel free to do so - or not =)
My father's always been a "pay it forward" kind of guy. If he saw someone with a flat tire, he'd stop and help and when offered something in return he'd ask them to help the next person in trouble they saw, if they could.
My mother has never liked that. To her way of thinking, it's like 'demanding' a future favor from someone in exchange for whatever they'd offered freely (and thus knew the "cost" of). Additionally, "common courtesy" would likely keep them from "refusing" such a request. Besides he'd already helped them, so what could they do?
So, if you agree with my mother's way of thinking, do not pay it forward - do your own thing instead, whatever that may be. If, on the other hand, you agree that what my father asked for actually holds no obligations at all, as to what one should "pay forward", when it has to be done, or even if it has to be done at all - "pay it forward". Either way is fine by me =)
