Lenovo Group Ltd. or Lenovo PC International, often shortened to Lenovo (/lɛˈnoʊvoʊ/ leh-NOH-voh), is a Chinese multinational technology company with headquarters in Beijing, China and Morrisville, North Carolina. It designs, develops, manufactures and sells personal computers, tablet computers, smartphones, workstations, servers, electronic storage devices, IT management software, and smart televisions. Lenovo was the world's largest personal computer vendor by unit sales from 2013 to 2015. It markets the ThinkPad line of notebook computers, IdeaPad, Yoga and Legion lines of notebook laptops, and the IdeaCentre and ThinkCentre lines of desktops.

Lenovo has operations in more than 60 countries and sells its products in around 160 countries. Lenovo's principal facilities are in Beijing and Morrisville, with research centers in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Chengdu, Nanjing, and Wuhan in China, Yamato in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan and Morrisville in the U.S. It operates a joint venture with EMC called LenovoEMC, which sells network-attached storage solutions. It also has a joint venture with NEC, Lenovo NEC Holdings, which produces personal computers for the Japanese market.

Lenovo was founded in Beijing in November 1984 as Legend and was incorporated in Hong Kong in 1988. Lenovo acquired IBM's personal computer business in 2005 and agreed to acquire its Intel-based server business in 2014. Lenovo entered the smartphone market in 2012 and as of 2014 was the largest vendor of smartphones in Mainland China. In 2014 Lenovo acquired the mobile phone handset maker Motorola Mobility from Google.

Lenovo is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the Hang Seng China-Affiliated Corporations Index, often referred to as "Red Chips".

Just don't confuse it with some evil DRM provider.
Yes, great is the word:

Or not.
Shit, and I can't even root my lenovo phone...
Is there Lenovo manufacturing facility in Poland, because I can swear that my Lenovo A6010 Plus was assembled in there. The retail box says so.

Wait, is that relevant to the topic at all?
Their rather obscure Legion Cube mini-desktop series is great. I have this surprisingly quiet little beast sitting next to my big screen in the living room.
I've got a librebooted thinkpad x200. Thats as free as computers can possibly be.
Ah, The Great Lenovo.

I remember seeing him at the circus as a kid blaa blaa blaa you know the rest.
Great? Lenovo?

From what I've read, those two words haven't belonged together in quite a while.
I bought an IdeaPad for about $150, and am satisfied so far. It has been able to run Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap as well as the VICE emulator just fine. Morrowind runs fine except that the game doesn't control well due to the lack of a mouse. The only thing I threw at it that didn't seem to work for some reason is the apple2gs core of MAME.

4G of RAM on a computer at that price point is pretty good, I think.

Also, it is lightweight, not too big (though I would still probably prefer smaller), and doesn't need a fan to stay cool.

(Wondering if it has any chance of running the Bard's Tale remaster, or if it's not worth trying.)

Edit: Forgot to mention, this is after wiping Windows 10 (which is probably not a good choice for a laptop of its specs and price point) and installing Debian GNU/Linux, with Fluxbox as the window manager.

Time to *bump* this shit up
Lenovo is like a reverse Midas.

Everything it touches turns to shit.
I have a T60 for my old games and the T410 for the great firewire port, i use the T410 with a canopus advc110 to capture VHS, Laserdisc, Vinyl and Tape. I love Thinkpads, because you don't need a mouse with them. And i prefer the no nonsense LCD's from the Thinkpads. I don't need 144fps and similar bullshit. Just a Laptop with a normal Screen. But for gaming i use a different company. To make a long story short, i like Lenovo. But the adware story was a bad move by lenovo...

Reminds me of a game distribution company called GamersGate, whose name is unfortunately rather similar to a certain political movement (I believe the company came first).

Sometimes, a name can, after it's assigned, be associated with something that many consider bad. A couple examples of names that fell out of popularity due to this sort of thing are Adolf and Isis.
I have an old think pad from around 2010. Still runs great with Linux on it.
