with the possibility to purchase the "Tales From the Far Territory" expansion.

After being removed from sale for some time, the game might be making a return to GOG. While nothing is confirmed just yet, it seems that discussions are underway.

From Hinterland :

"Some of you have also asked about bringing the game back to GoG.
We’ve been working with the business development team at GoG and are close to finalizing an agreement to bring the game to the store.
Anyone who previously owned THE LONG DARK will automatically be updated to the latest version, with the option to purchase TALES FROM THE FAR TERRITORY if you wish.
I want to be clear that the agreement isn’t yet finished; we’re still working through some details,
but I’m hopeful we will get there and find a good path forward."

Hope it does in fact return... but...

... also hope they finish the campaign / story!

From what I hear they have yet to publish the last installment / chapter of the story, and with the announcement of The Long Dark 2 having already happened, some fear they've moved on....?

Now, if GOG can just get For the King back!!

Recent dev diary says the bulk of the Hinterland team is now working on EP5. But if you've been following the Long Dark's L-O-N-G development, the promises and the pushed back development of things, having to wait for a persistently-delayed EP5 is nothing new.

After EP5 is released, they're going to call TLD complete, but they indicate that doesn't mean minor development/patching will cease, they'll just be turning their full attention to TLD2.

My theory RE GOG return is they'll wait until EP5 is ironed-out and the teams all get re-organised and then they'll have a go at returning it to GOG proper. But...erm... don't hold your breath. That might be years away yet.

let me gues :

As a final note, you may notice that starting April 24th, for four days, THE LONG DARK will be -- for a very limited time -- available on Steam with a deep 90% discount.
while spitting Gog users in the face with a full price re-release .
I've waited this long. I can wait more.
That would be good. While they continued to update the game on GOG for quite a while after it was removed from the store, that stopped a couple of years ago.
LOL, thanks for the quotes. It took me a second: I was quite worried
Hopefully it will all happen.

Man, that was some cheap journalism. The dev diary was hardly written in some undecipherable language; someone could have just dropped the link to it and let people read for themselves.

This is great news! I love this game and bought it here. I'd be happy to buy their expansion if they came back to GOG.
