JMich: Also, to address your comment about not being able to afford to put a man on mars, putting someone there is easy. Getting him back is the hard part.
That's something every Kerbal Space Program player is painfully aware of ^^
If I didn't live so far from a theater I'd go see it in a heartbeat. Good or bad, it's Mars, and more than that, it's a summer movie. I don;t think anyone involved with it's production has any illusions about reinventing the wheel or curing cancer here. :P

Shit, I'll leave the rest of you to complain about movies like this and then waste the rest of your day watching the fucking English Patient or Steel Magnolias. :P

Why do I have the impression that you made this thread so you could bitch about something?

Crosmando: So you admit that it's propaganda then?

JMich: Not unless the budget cutbacks were made before 2011, when the book came out.

I can't help but laugh at this statement.

So apparently America needs more soppy feel-good propaganda about SPACE, and because those bankers need their billion dollar bailouts they can't afford to actually put an astronaut on Mars in reality, so they'll just do in in their imaginations.

Please Mr Scott, just give up and retire, you have well and truly lost it.
The martian movie is a movie that I like very much and I recommend it to everyone.
