Literal video game secret gotta be the whole Leisure Suit Larry 4. It's shrouded in mystery, to this day nobody knows where it is at!
If you know of its whereabouts, call Al Lowe - the series creator. He and many fans included would surely appreciate.
My pick would go to Wave Race: Blue Storm. There's a cheat code that causes the announcer to be an absolute jerk, such as saying "You have chosen poorly" on the character select screen, or "You don’t have an inferiority complex; you're just inferior" after crossing the finish line. Love it. I wish this was a normal feature in other games as well.

Eduardo_Garcia11: Mine is in Batman arkham asylum and it's the hidden chamber in the warden's office, inside you find the plans for the construction of arkham city revealing what will happen in the next game. What makes this easter egg even more interesting is that no one was able to find it and eventually the devs revealed it themselves.
Not even all the devs knew about it. I worked on the game as part of QA at Eidos Montréal and we weren't even briefed on this. I wish we had because there are a few minor bugs in that room that I immediately noticed when it was first revealed lol
I know we're just supposed to pick one, but I need to give two.

First is just an honorable mention to Adventure on the 2600 for being the first Easter Egg. It's actually crazy that the developer had to hide his name in the game just to be known!

Now the one that stands out to me lately is in Batman Arkham Asylum. There is a wall in the Warden's room that if you place 3 gels super close together in the center and blow them up that will reveal a secret room. In this room there are a few little props and details, but most importantly teasers for Arkham City!
There's a building in Okasankarr and has a sign that says "No public urination" in a zone that's covered by water.
It's from one of my favorite games... a game I played first time 20 years ago. Outcast.
Most recent one I enjoyed was in Generation Zero. There was a gnome that would spawn spider robot gnomes. Which would reward cosmetic Gnome masks but one in specific was a reference to Terminator. A terminator Gnome Mask with glowing red eyes. There is also a barn that has the Delorian car from Back To The Future.

I love the Batman Arkham series. Being full of Easter eggs, it's hard to pick a favorite. But I gotta say that the events of Halloween night regarding ManBat would have to be my favorite. I remember his story a bit from watching his episode on Batman the Animated Series (what great backgrounds that series had. And don't get me started on the intro.)

It took me forever to find out what happens if you have already captured ManBat and you went back to the GCPD.

The whole Arkham series is sooo full of Easter eggs! I can play that game for hours and hours just to flap around looking for stuff.

I know that the most interesting Easter Egg will be not in games but in real life when at some point I will discover that all this world around me is only A Matrix, and all of the things that go around me are only lines of code. That will be The Biggest Easter Egg in my whole Life!
In the first Dead Space, you play as Isaac Clarke, an Engineer on a search and rescue team sent to investigate a derelict ship, the "USG Ishimura." You're told at the start of the game that your girlfriend, Nicole, works on this ship, and sent out a distress call to Isaac before the start of the game. When you arrive, the ship is infested with mutated undead creatures called Necromorphs.

You spend a lot of the game searching for Nicole, without ever actually finding her (other than a jump scare at the very end of the game). However, when you take the first letter of each chapter title, it spells out: NICOLE IS DEAD.

Pretty chilling when it's actually revealed, but it's being spelled out for you as you go on.
Mr. Toots in Red Faction Armageddon is definitely my fav Easter egg. Who wouldn't want to decimate enemies with a unicorn that destroys enemies with the power of its rainbow farts?
WHEN I WAS SMALL I PLAYED A LOT OF DOOM 2 AND IN THE FINAL ENEMY HE SAID SOMETHING THAT WAS NOT UNDERSTOOD, I ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW WHAT HE SAID, IN A MAGAZINE THAT WAS I THINK IT WAS THE TIPS, I THINK IT WAS MEXICAN, IT SAID HE WOULD USE A HACK.
AND THE EGG IS THAT IF ONE USED THE HACK YOU COULD PASS THROUGH THE WALLS AND KILL A HEAD THAT WAS ONE OF THE DESIGNERS
The Witcher 3 developer's group photo easter egg. Great painting! ^_^
I think my favorite all time secret is on some konami games if you press: up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, Start. It will do something sometimes, like free lives for example. KEEP THIS ON THE DOWN LOW!!!! I don't want them to patch it!!!
On Hollow Knight there is a secret area caled "Shrine Of Believers". It is found on The Resting Grounds by travelling behind the waterfall and into the room with the moth statues. Once here, jump to the top left of the room where there is a small hidden ledge to Dream Nail the largest moth's head to access the shrine. The Monarch Wings are required to jump up this ledge, but it can also be accessed by climbing up the right wall and using the Crystal Heart. The Shrine of Believers contains a building full of breakable tablets displaying backer messages, guarded outside by the Unnamed Moth.
well MEGG in HALO. a love tribute. game dev"s life is always hard ,,games industries takes most of their time away from families and love ones
When I'm in the Caribbean in Port Royale 4, I love fishing for easter eggs in the sea with my Spanish galleon, the secret of why I do it. Money, power and treasures.
