Ugaking: On the scaming aspect, you can test it yourself:
Open any question on steam or Discord on the crypto topic and you will be immediately banned.
That doesn't necessarily mean anything by itself.

Ugaking: Hiring more people 2 years after starting development, i.e. after the big cashflow is over?
Big red flag in my eyes.
Just because they hired some people?

Look, I like when bad actions in the corporate world(include gaming companies) get brought to light, but I think(key word) it's more likely than not that you're chasing at shadows here.

That said: if you or anyone else has anything in the way of actual proof, i'm sure everyone would like to see it.

Robette: What is up with that game, actually? I realize it somehow dropped from the face of the earth, but I somehow got this long ago (some bundle?) and still have this on steam. While I have not played much, it does look fairly complete as it is?
I know very little about it so do your own research. I thought it was not in a playable state but if it is, good for you. I just remember it being in the upcoming list here on GOG for years then removed.

Call it selfish or ignorant, but as long as the game (or any game for that matter) comes in 100% DRM-free self-contained offline installers when it releases in October I couldn't care less about any alleged crypto currency scams or other controversies the developer is running respectively involved in on the side.
I'm going to pretend to be shocked.
Ready?

Falsetto gasp!

I've gone onto this stoop before, suggesting that perhaps GOG's definition of "Coming Soon" is a bit outlandish. I unfortunately wrote my thread in as prose and from a philosophical standpoint. Which turns out is way too above the heads of most readers here.

The point I was making was that I really thought it was a farce that Masquerade 2: Bloodlines (or whatever) was listed as coming soon, seeing as...it isn't. Same with Xenonauts 2.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: This is an interesting point. The thread title led me to expect it would be another rant against having AO games on GOG, in which case I would have had to oppose the OP's premise.

But with the premise that is actually in the OP, I support that, if true.

I also heard that the Subverse devs pulled a bait & switch scam on the public, by initially presenting the game as AO...but then later, they turned out to be making a game which has barely any AO content in it.

What do you think of that point, Ugaking? Is that accurate?
Lol, your opening paragraph is the same for me!! Have seen the moralism so prevalent everywhere I can't help but assume it is the default. But I agree this is a more intriguing discussion.

To me, ratings are artificial shorthand. You won't find a wild "R rating" out in nature. It is more accurate to discuss content, amount of content, etc. In doing so, it is apparent that not all games, films, books etc contain the same amount of explicit content just because they have a certain label adhered to them. We can even see this when people say things like a movie has a "hard R" rating or "really earns its rating", etc.

So I'm also curious how much AO content is present. I think it is still important to support such games even if they skimp on the content somewhat but I would prefer it is more as the initial presentation the way you describe.

Orkhepaj: another reason to ban early access and preordering
most of these are used for scamming
Nah.

Don't want to get "scammed" by "pre-order" or "early access"? By simply not participating that can be achieved. No one forces someone to buy into "pre-order" or "early access".

Both those things are individual choices one can make. No need for a "ban" on them. Just don't partake.

this is not true , by simply nearly the whole industry adopting these lower the quality of the games quiet a bit , meaning it affects me even if i dont preorder

That's your subjective opinion, not a "fact". It's YOUR crap that is "not true". Don't go calling me a liar because you disagree with my opinion. You're the liar.

Disagreement is fine - but telling me my opinion is "not true"? Stuff it.

Wrong "factually"? Load of B.S.

Also, called "projection" - as in, you are the one postulating a fictional different universe outcome if your favored "ban" were put in place. Your imagination tells you that games would just be so much better if that ban was there.

But you don't REALLY know how the "games field" would have played out with such a ban. You can only "project" the outcome you think would occur - because you have no clue if that outcome would actually occur or not. It's "projection".

Your fictional, imagined outcome may or may not occur if such a ban was in place - but here you are postulating that your fictional, imagined outcome would "for a fact" occur. I'll call that form of projection, "hindsight imagination"; because you postulate as fact your opinion of what your fictional, imagined outcome would be.

Fair enough. I am 100% certain that GOG will not reconsider, they just don't do that, otherwise games like Plane Mechanic Simulator and Soul Saga would have to be removed as well. Both projects are dead, PMS developers changed and the project was abandoned 3 times now, both publishers (coincidentally both big Polish ones) went radio silent, SS is dead and disastercake took a dive. Still both are sold here and heavily discounted during sales events. If they don't remove those games they will keep Subverse coming.
I'm so torn about this game.

The gameplay looks fantastic and a nice mashup of genres I love - a sort of Shmup, more combat action oriented version of The Longest Journey Home and FTL mixed with sweet RPG level up turn based tactical character combat...

... but the sex stuff always sketches me out. I play games for fun, not to lock my door and constantly look over my shoulder hoping no one sees me "playing a game."

"Go away! I'm playing video games!"

This is one time I hope there's actually a censor mod so I can just play the game and not worry about a five minute cutscene with a blue chick getting fucked by an electronic space dildo.

Yeah, I kinda wish there was a mod for HuniePop 1 & 2 to get rid of the cringe inducing, racially/culturally insensitive girls, but at that point I suppose I'd just be playing Gewled.

Yeah, pretty much.

Though to be honest, I'm a bit wary, since the word "scam" is thrown around an awful lot when Kickstarter is involved. I don't think I've ever seen any Kickstarter where there wasn't at least a handful of butthurt backers invoking the s-word. Not dismissing what the OP said, I honestly haven't paid any attention at all to this particular game, so OP's concerns are valid for all I know.
