I did get that game as a gift in December 2016. I recall a lot of copies up for grabs, so it was likely free at that time. I am looking to see whether it is now free.

Not at all. You only need Galaxy to play Gwent, you may still redeem The Witcher on the web page.

On that note, I can get the free game, but only as a gift (I already own it). Checkout wants me to enter a gift recipient's e-mail. Is there a way to get the code to pass along?

Edit: I guess it's not really necessary, since anyone can go get it at this time.
