Seems to be a bug. Please make a bug report to the developers or GOG.
Please insert Disk 476 to continue.
383.4 GB for an update :D

But it's like this for everyone with the update who uses offline installers and patches (300+ GB needed).

You are better off redownloading the whole thing instead of patching it.

Disk? What`s that? Do you mean compact cassettes for the Datasette drive?

Obviously I meant the ZIP(TM) disks for the ZIP(TM) drive.

A friend of mine had one in the 90s. 100 MB storage on a single disk? Incredibly huge, especially because HDs typically had about a few hundred MBs then, not more.
Apparently, the capacity climbed all the way to 750MB, which is very impressive for essentially floppy disks.

Yep, it was. But that technology had no future due to the fact that writeable and rewriteable CDs came out then, which had a capacity of, if I remember correctly, 650 MB per disc.

This is the best thing they have thought of to trick more people into installing their Galaxy malware?
Pathetic.

Galaxy is an option too, but I meant that you would be better off uninstalling the game, downloading the full 1.2 installer and installing from scratch instead of trying to apply the 1.2 patch from an installer.
Holy smokes, 380+GB? My update from 1.12 to 1.2 told me it needed 36GB. I freed up 60GB just to be safe and it updated without issue. There was a Galaxy update immediately after that finished installing, I wonder if perhaps the Galaxy update is bugged out.

Galaxy is not an option. I've been trying to update through it since last night and only 13GB has downloaded at ~1MB/sec.

I have 262GB of free space and that's not enough? You're right though - downloading the entire game installation files all over again is going to be the best option.

Waiting in the cellar until the worst of the storm blows over, I believe, would be the best option.

lol! You may be right!

I found and installed this extension which allows you to stack downloads in a queue then right-click a link to add it to the queue. It's a bit wanky, but it's working to download all 27 files without having to babysit.
