Ive had the originals for a long time.
Received the enhanced editions (thanks GOG)
However, im wondering, whatever they have enhanced in the new editions - are they worth the download over the originals ?.

Supposedly, improved the visuals here.

For the most part here, the Global Illumination (G.I.). and lighting stuff to me looks a lot better and I'm enjoying here the gamepad support in SOC Enhanced.

I still will have to get to CS Enhanced and COP Enhanced.

A lot of times here in SOC Enhanced, it's nice just to buzz around the game-world w/ a gamepad and chill. I love having choices like this in games - and when both gamepad and KB/mouse can work at the same time. When enemies are near, I will often will switch real-quick to KB/mouse for precision of the mouse.

Though, I'd recommend most people straight-up turn OFF entirely FSR. For some reason, FSR is on by default - and it looks awful. I dunno if they're using an old or weak FSR version, but it looks awful and is blurring these images TOO much. I dunno, were they expecting most gamers to run this on weak or older PC's or weak Steam Decks or something?

There really should be DLSS or other support for this. But, I have a RTX 3070 on my desktop (specs = i7 10700KF, 16 gb RAM, numerous SSD's and HDD's, 8gb RTX 3070, W10 x64) - and this game's running at 1080p 50-60fps most of the time maxed-out w/ G.I. On and FSR off.

EDIT:
I'm say check it out for yourself and see what you think & how it runs on your hardware. I'm fine w/ new versions; they're free.

Plus, we get both versions in our GOG Libraries here, so...that helps a lot. Some things are better here in SOC Enhanced over OG SOC to me (G.I. support, higher-rez graphics, etc), meanwhile some aren't (i.e. censorship and lack of mods). Pro's and con's here.

Also, not much mod support yet for Enhanced Ed's of SOC/CS/COP. I've seen Weight Increasing Mods for SOC/CS/COP - but that's about it. Hopefully, in due time, old mods get ported over to EE's and/or more mods pop-up w/ this new version, down the road.

Memecchi: What's more annoying is the lazy removal of in-game assets like this

https://www.reddit.com/r/stalker/comments/1kqxbks/enhanced_edition_biggest_change/

Like one of the comments says, like at least destroy it or something? but no, they just cut the monument

viperfdl: That looks like a bad case of downgrade. Luckily we still have the originals.
And apparently they've also used some terribad sloppy AI to upscale the icons, one has to wonder why they couldn't be bothered to redraw a simple heath icon, but yeah I'd stay away from this version
Just played the enhanced edition and the game runs much worse than the original even though the changes are not that big... On GTX 1060 it runs at 1080p 40 FPS on max settings even though the recommend requirements say a GTX 1060 is enough for 1080p 60 FPS max settings. And the "enhanced edition" looks much more blurry even with anti aliasing off and FSR off.

Looks like i'll wait until it's fully patched to play this one. I still haven't finished Fallout 3 yet so i'm gonna play that first.
Thanks much, really appreciate receiving the enhanced versions for free!
Thank you for the free upgrades, GSC and GOG! :)
Nice, just checked and all enhanced edtions are in my library now.
No update for shadow of chornobyl enhanced while clear sky and call of prypiat got them?
Have them in physical already but such events make me feel up to buying the games in digital form. Going to think for a bit and also size up my funds in the meantime. Maybe play some other games also.

Shmacky-McNuts: Question:

I wonder if GSC staff made all the additional content or did they pirate all the existing mods?

I dont plan on delving deep into this question, as I am satisfied with the original games. However, given the terms on their home page, that annexes pretty much all mods....hmm....makes me wonder.

If anyone who is intimate with the mod scene wants to inform us here, please do.
Perhaps it is like other games where they asked mod makers to add content into the mix? Still, would also like to know.

lord_mendes: 2. GSC removed the existing Russian voiceover from the game.
Given where the games are set this seems like a poor decision at best. I again question corporate practices.

look, you should be grateful that you received a free copy of a bastardized censored version of a game that demands modern hardware now to struggle to run graphics from 2007 upscaled.
At least, that's the sentiment of midwits applauding this pile of garbage.

Oh only galaxy for now, but think i am still gonna wait for a few patches to see how it works.
I actually wanted to replay the games starting with shadow of chornobyl, then clear sky and then prypiat like the games were released back in the day.
Oh and i do use galaxy.

How long do we wait for the enhanced versions to be good?

Answer: Play the original games

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well they added achievements ingame i think as in galaxy. If it won't run good i am probably gonna do that. Man i still tried the game with galaxy since offline installer is lacking the patch. Works fine i guess. Achievements are unlocking also in galaxy and ingame.
There is one problem though, i can't lower the volume or increase it on my monitor sound with the button FN+ F2 or FN+F3.
I can adjust the volume ingame though, but only after i press use it changes. Hm too bad my headphones currently have a problem since the connection seems loose somewhere and it just sound bad then.
Anyway just found out i can use monitor controls to adjust volume also.
Also not as blurry as i've seen but FSR was set to native.
Some antianalaysing makes it blurry when aiming what i've just noticed.
