Dear GOG,

Thank you for considering sending all-time-low discounts to your loyal newsletter subscribers. It is customer-friendly and I am sure many people are happy to get these nice deals for games they wish for.

The thing is, all these years I never received such an email for a discount that was relevant to me. I know it's not that easy to send personalized discounts per user. Still, I would like to get such emails for games that actually interest me. You know my buying habits and also you know my current wishlisted games. It's not that hard to see what games appeal to me.

I did not post this to complain, not at all. It's more of a reaction to the whole open-email-with-exclusive-historically-best-discount-in-excitement-just-to-discover-it-is-totally-not-interest ing-once-again situation I seem to fall for every time :)

It would be also nice if GOG would fix their store and so they would stop sending people discounts for games they already own, but because the store is broken GOG doesn't recognize this.

I have full Kickstarter version of Pillars of Eternity, but I often receive e-mails with super promo because the store doesn't recognize this.

Yes, this would be much appreciated. I, too, own the full Kickstarter version, but for some reason it doesn't count as owning the Definitive edition (and for the pedants out there, yes I'm aware it's because they have different ID numbers in GOG's database. It's still annoying).

As to whether they are relevant to the person or not, based on GOG's other recent email about wishlists, these exclusive discounts are apparently based around titles you have wishlisted (and likely around previous purchases, though they never mention as such).

They might extract massively wishlisted items among all users to offer discounts, it's probably what they mean (just a guess). I really have never received a single offer that interested me at all.

Understandable. Clearly GOG is not out for full transparency when it comes to this stuff, which is somewhat unfortunate.

This reminds me, for the GOG version does "PIllars Of Eternity" make you sign that EULA that says they'll harvest your data to sell to marketing companies(not expressly defined but implied I think) or is that absent? I didn't play it on Game Pass because of that mess though I was curious to try it.
