Hi,

I'm unable to uninstall, reinstall or open GOG Galaxy. I get the following error messages:

Uninstall Error:
Messages file "C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\unins000.msg" is missing. Please correct the problem or obtain a new copy of the program.

Install Error:
Newer or same version already installed. Setup will exit now.

Run/Execute GOG Error:
Essential components needed to start GOG Galaxy are missing or incorrectly configured. If this continues, please reinstall the application.

I also tried running unins000.exe, but get the same error as the uninstalled one above.

Operating System Win 10 64 bit

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

You can try to force an update.

You can try to use a third party uninstaller, such as Revo Uninstaller.

I would not recommend manual deletion, unless you are very adept with Windows file system and registry. If manual deletion is the only option (if the two above hints did not work), try to find a list of files GOG Galaxy 2.0 installs on your system since there can be stuff in %appdata% and elsewhere. Also, hopefully the registry entries are labelled as GOG but the best would be to obtain a list of what registry keys it installs to make sure you delete all of them and the right ones.

Try either of those two first ones first before attempting, nay, before even thinking about manual remove.

I tried the following command to do a force update but I got an error saying "The system cannot find the path specified. I don't see a redists folder inside the Galaxy folder. I also tried uninstalling with IObit Uninstaller but got the same error message about missing the unins000.msg file. Is it possible to get that file from somewhere else and add it back into my directory?

Use geekuninstall, if it can’t find the uninstalled, it will allow you to force remove the entries. You will have to manually remove left over folders and such like.
