every year I try some videogames and always end up getting bored ouf of my skull. Some I liked, like Dragon Age Origins, but the boss battles were a joke. But more and more it feels getting to like again the hopscotch games you played when you were 10. I guess this is a good sign. I'll try again next year.

There have been a few threads like this before. Often it's a case of getting "burned out" playing too much of one thing / genre and simply needing to take a break for a while.

yes, most of the time the feeling resides with the person voicing the complaint rather then evil developers at work.
Although I've never tested it out myself, I've heard that going outside can be a good thing to do when games become boring.
Make better choices in all aspects of your life on your own terms and you will find more excitement and things to do that way.

I thought this thread rang a bell somewhere and sure enough there have been very similar threads before ;)

Why you would keep doing something that you don't enjoy, I don't know, but hey ho!

Maybe you could list other game features you're looking for and people can help direct you to them? If you're digging through entire game catalogues, you're statistically going to bump into more subpar titles than ones you're looking for.

Spitballing games similar to DA:O (* on GOG):

Bioware
- Baldur's Gate 1 & 2*
- Jade Empire*
- KOTOR 1&2*
- Mass Effect Trilogy

Party RPGs
- Arcanum*
- Divinity: OS 1 & 2*
- Dragon's Dogma*
- Fallout series*
- Neverwinter Nights 2*
- Pathfinder*
- Pillars of Eternity*
- Tyranny*

Dark Fantasy
- Dark Souls series / Bloodborne
- Darkest Dungeon*
- Grim Dawn*
- Gothic series*
- Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice*
- Hand of Fate series*
- Path of Exile
- Witcher series*

Do you mean then that this post is an out-of-body experience? :P

In all fairness, I've had times when I was completely uninterested in gaming in general. If this is happening with genres/games you usually like, just take a break, come back to it later.

Masochism?
Try these substitutes:

Tabletop games (much better graphics, but most are multiplayer)
Movies (much better graphics, but very little interactivity)
Books (abysmal ASCII graphics)
Music (no graphics at all, or rather depends on your cerebral processor)
Comics (graphics can vary greatly)
Binge drinking (not recommended, high requirements will destroy your cerebral processor)
Russian Roulette (not recommended, if you hate permadeath... or if you are easily bored out of your head)

but all are fun.

To be fair a lot of it is derivative crap with basic standards e.g rebindable controls, going backwards.
Newer gamers won't be aware of this so they would think he's trolling.

Maxvorstadt: Masochism?
Einstein famously assessed the behaviour as insanity.
