...A little more ACTION!

At least 78% of totally NOT made-up studies have shown that talking is the cause of 78% of unhappiness in the world. Especially when one participant wants to do it and the other doesn't.
In games, things are a little different and yet too much talking is known to put certain players off. Which makes a wordy announcement of a sale aimed at them a rather questionable choice. SO, perhaps it's time to stop reading and start browsing our action-themed Weekly Sale before it gets bored and shoots first!

Who needs words when you got a snazzy Hat in Time? 'Course, our little heroine does enjoy the occasional conversation with the many loopy NPCs scattered around the colorful worlds she visits during her space-hopping adventure. But let's face it, the platforming, smacking, secret-hunting and general trouble-making is where it's at.

Set your lasers to disintegrate! Explosive action and perilous exploration await you inside CRYPTARK's procedurally generated alien starships. As a fearless privateer, you must neutralize all threats lurking there with your own formidable arsenal and make their well-protected System Core go KABOOM!

The Weekly Sale ends April 09, 10 PM UTC.
That's a TON of side-scrolling 2D platformers in this sale. Not only are they 2D, but many of them have high-spec system requirements. There's more to action than platformers, and it's always nice to see developers making simple games that don't require new hardware every 18 months. I would like to see more low-spec games of all genres in future sales, and more action games too.

What about the Syndicate, Crusader, and Brigador series? Alien Shooter and Zombie Shooter series? Underrail? SWAT? There are a lot of excellent low-spec action games on GOG. I would LOVE to see GOG have a sale dedicated to low-spec games. It would send a message to developers that we're paying attention to all those embarrassingly high-spec simple games they're pumping out.

You shouldn't need to buy new hardware to play a simple game. Do the developers want us to spend our money on new hardware, or do they want us to spend our money on their games? The choice is easy.

The worst thing a developer can do is make a high-spec game that actually works just fine on low-spec PC hardware. Why in the world would they want to do that? I have no idea, but there are several in my GOGmix:

One of the worst offenders of this ever? Oxenfree. Which is GPU tied. Ram and CPU don't matter that much. But because it is GPU tied. It will run like crap on hardware it should otherwise run perfectly at 1080p. No wonder they gave it away during 2 days recently. Was really glad i didn't paid for it. I would had been pissed.

Most devs (especially the ones at steam) always tell us they don't have an 'old' machines they can test it on, so they use their current setup which is usually better then ours , thats why they dont 'know' their own games and which minimum setup is needed to run it.

To make things even worse too many developers don't seem to actually care to 'optimise' their code, making it look like as if they are using some klik n play tool to create games (these simple tools existed even on the c64 platform (garry kitchens gamemaker) ) the worst part was the games created needed at least the system the klik and play software to create games could run on).

If devs have extremely powerfull pc , mobo cpu gpu lots of coolers (to keep the bad coded games from burning the pc) then its only logical they can stay below 10% usage at full speed, and below 20% celcius, but the lesser gods among the many gamers dont have the $ to forkout every 18 months lots of cash to keep up with the latest technology.

The thing is if someone uses a 'super' PC , any game will run smoothly.... thats why in the 80-s90s i got most if not all of my games from developers who lived in less wealthy countries cause they had no big $ to afford the latest hardware ( every x number of month) , which was a very good thing because the low requirements allowed me to buy dozens of games from these poor developers ( i skipped the big publishers like activision, EA and many other big publishers cause these games required faster and more powerfull pc, even in the very beginning( DOS ).

These poor developers/publishers seem to have 'vanished' or bought out to join the big family making the affordable low spec games to disappear., thats why i love the good old games, but lately new high spec games are arriving by the dozens and many games look like c64 or amiga games but do need a very powerfull PC.

Jenkinz: [...] Has it ever been on a greater sale?

HeartsAndRainbows: There had been a 50% discount between December 12 and 13, 2017. (Source.)
While that's technically correct, it wasn't supposed to be discounted by that much. You see how the deep discount only lasted for a short time, then went back to 10% off? That wasn't because of some flash sale hijinks: the initial discount was a GOGoof™. (Source: I remember there being comments about it in the sale thread. ;) )
Thanks for clearing that up, HunchBluntley. I only remembered the 50% discount because I had the chance to grab it that day but didn't, because it had the same unresolved problems it has today (consequently I didn't keep an eye on AHiT's winter discount price after that).
So I think we could say 25% is the highest intentional discount the game had so far. :)
Neither Skylar And Plux and Hat In Time overstay their welcome, are not hard, look great, have cool music (opening of the first one I hum to this day), and know their audience is not little kids anymore (I can't stress this enough). They just want to be your friend for a while. Let them :-)

That's a great idea! And very insightful too. Thanks for writing that up for me. I'm going to use that idea myself and try to find some favorite game developers from less wealthy countries I can support. It's a great game-buying strategy! Why didn't I think of that!?

Its only a kind of statement to show things were really better in the good old days, some people might make a joke out of my reply or take it too seriously , i am not joking, 80-90 development was much better then today, if you remember the old c64 and the old AMIGA you would know how many good games were made ( also bad games but every platform has its own bad) devs were commited to delivering good games with limited means ( hardware and money) still they delivered great games, today the majority klik n plays a game together:

Unity (awfull and unoptimised if you cant afford a monster pc with 5 coolers and the max, nr of extra fans to keep the pc cool while the unity engine barbques the pc) wintermute and visoniare also highly unoptimised tools.

Anyway the developers of the past were able to keep code small, fast and still produced good games, today many games is like having to leave the kitchen because we can't stand the heat.(from: " if you can't stand the heat then get out of the kitchen).
The good thing is not all games are bad many devs seem to be able to deliver games that perform well , i have many games that run a charm.
me gustaria saber cuando tendra subtitulos en español quiero sumergirme mas en el juego pls

Yes! I bought the whole Close Combat series because they all work on 800 MHz CPU, which is amazing cutting-edge software technology by today's standards :)
