Hm, I think I've got the requirements down, but the responsibilities....

" animating the community "

But I've never done any animation work past some simple Flash tweening!

"sorting out problems"

Well, I do know most of the classic sorting algorithms, but I don't see how that will help anyone. It sure has done nothing for me.

"Planning and organizing community-related actions"

I was born too late for this, but in ex-YU this was quite common. Perhaps I should ask mom.

"Facebook, Twitter"

I have trained to become blind to those words. Are you saying I would have to touch the icky?

"Working on improving the forum experience together with other GOG.com teams"

Do I get to shout orders in three hour long speeches every morning and evening? I offer bad German and fake Russian.

"Representing the voice of our gaming community"

Ahahahahahahaaha. No, seriously, this made me laugh out loud. I don't think you'd quite want that.

"Working hand in hand with the rest of the PR"

But I work better with my hands free!

"Supporting the PR team by engaging in Facebook and Twitter interaction with our community."

Absolute deal breaker there. Unless by "engaging" you had a very Usian definition in mind.

zeogold: It sounds wonderful that this is a sign that GOG's finally paying attention to the community for once, but I'm pretty sure that the whole moving-to-Poland thing is going to stop pretty much everybody applying except for those who already live there. Which is a shame, because a community specialist really should be somebody from the community. Heck, even I'D apply if it wasn't for that.
Which makes me wonder, why is this move necessary? Isn't it all from a computer anyway....?
I fulfill all the job requirements listed for this community specialist position.

But, relocating to Poland is not really practical for most people here.

Has anyone confirmed with the GOG staff that moving to Poland is an absolute must for this position ?

It's right there in the OP.

Konrad: It does mean working out of our Warsaw-based office, but it's also a seriously awesome opportunity for an adventure (and we offer all the help you need with relocating).

You couldn't be any more out of your depth being their community manager in warsaw, than in any other country.
I vote swim!
Oh & it's your chance to be the crazy foreign dude that makes everyone laugh around the water cooler with lame jokes in a poor accent that doesn't translate well (or doesn't mean what you thought it would).

Be even better if it was china with how words have vastly different meanings based on the tone you say that exact same word with.
Am I saying the punchline is 'the man eventually gave up and fed the cat', or 'the cat was fed up and regurgitated the man' :D :D :D
*walks in in bunny slippers*
Never mind me, I wanted to check if the position had been filled.
*walks out brushing teeth*
low rated
*looks at the office lady*
''Who is the idiot in rabbit slipper's?''
"Oh,that's the Manager of the Gog and he is ready to interview you now''
*Oh,shit*
I have a feeling in the future I'll be thinking of the outcome of this as us getting a Mangler of GOG Community.

Will depend on how 'hands on' they feel the need to be. Keeping spammers and scammers in check is fine. Running the place with an iron fist? If that happens you'll probably see a lot less of some people around here, myself included. But it wouldn't surprise me. I'm an internet vet, so I've seen it happen before.

About the same for me. Though the way it is now is equally bad I think for GOG so odds are it will get better. Better to have some steering than none at all.

Running a forum isn't that hard, so long as you don't let the weeds get too high. I've done it before. GOG forums need a reformat with proper child sub threads, some organizing of topics, as well as some house cleaning due to all the random shit that gets thrown about. It doesn't need a goddamn UN security council and 300 by-laws. Besides, GOG has built up a pretty stubborn clan full of opinionated old timers and hot headed anti-DRM kids. If they force a web Hitler on them now, it might make the whole thing crap the bed. Time will tell.

I have too and again I agree. I would like to add a clear vision what exactly the forum and community should have for focus is the first and most important step. Fine tuning the rest as in what should be allowed and how it should be organised isn't very hard. Just do as GOG have always done with testing and seeing what works and what doesn't.

Usually stuff like this involves making a community and shaping the members around it. As you point out GOG have to start in the other end now or they will fail spectacularly. :P

It the words of the immortal Rick James, "She's a very kinky girl. The kind you don't take home to mother."
