As another sale has come around there has been talk about "Sale Fatigue" and also sales being the new norm. That made me stop to think, what games have I paid full price for? Are there any games I see myself paying full price for in the future?

Master of Orion 2
Alpha Centauri

My first games I bought when coming to GoG. Both were a steal at $6 and I've spent many wonderful hours with both.

StarCraft 2 - I love Blizzard games and the hype was real for SC2. I didn't buy the two expansions at full price, but I'd been waiting more than a decade for that game. It didn't disappoint.

The Banner Saga 2 - I loved BS1 and there was some pushback from the developer about releasing on GoG and I wanted to show that this was a site they could make money. I bought it thr first day it was available here. I also wanted to reward the developers for making something pretty special. Funny, I haven't played it yet, but with that 3rd one out that could change soon.

AI War 2 - Not sure if this quite counts as I backed this on Kickstarter. I really enjoyed The Last Federation and like how open Chris is with his game development. The game release has been delayed and I know that he will deliver, but I don't think I'll be backing another game anytime soon.

Games I Would Buy Full Price

Into the Breach - FTL was amazing and I loved that the Advanced Edition was a free upgrade for everyone who already owned the game. That is development done right!

Tales of Maj'eyal - Freaking amazing. The amount of content, love, and care that DarkGod gives this game is unbelievable. I've donated to TOME before because I love it so much. Buying the next expansion is a no brainer.

There are other games would buy full price as a gift, like FTL, Imperialism 1&2, Baldurs Gate 1&2, King of Dragon Pass, Age of Wonders 1, Sword of the Samurai, and maybe a few others. But for myself, I don't have a ton of free time so I don't feel like I'm missing out by waiting for a sale. Also because I don't have a ton of free time it means I usually won't be playing games again and again. This leads me to wanting to buy Complete Editions so I can have the complete experience. I don't want to buy a game and then a year later find out that there is twice is much content and it plays totally differently. Mind you, I make a distinction between DLC for say, Paradox games and Civ 5, and an expansion for Tales of Maj'eyal, but that's a different discussion I think.

Anyway, what are games you would pay Full Price for?

*Edit* I'm ashamed I left off the Pinnacle of all PC gaming, the Caesar of the Gaming World, the Epic, the Eternal, the Aaaaamaaaazzzziiiinnnggg, DROIDWORKS!!!

You really buy things full price, but there is at least three sales ongoing at any time here...
I only bought gurumin, mafia and chantelise at full price from the 137 games i own on GOG if i check my orders.
Gurumin was my first bought game here actually it did have a bad bug at ending credits that it crashed but now it's fixed.
Mafia i wanted to play it in english as the german dvd version liked to crash if i used the english exe crack in one mission that made the game uncensored, the mission was beating up a truck driver and getting his papers that crashed if the game was cracked, now it doesn't crash in the GOG version.
Chantelise i always wanted to play after finding recettear such a positive game,so yeah had to buy it full price since the developer didn't discount the game for a long time and then it was said it will be removed because they couldn't contact the developer. Good thing i bought the game before it dissapeared and beated the game already. Though it should reappear some day don't know what the developer is doing to bringing back the games from carpe fulgur that it had here.
Also every full price game was under 10 euros.
Honestly the only thing in recent memory is Into the Breach, but that was an easy one. My price point is usually $20 or less, and I adored FTL.

Come to think of it, I think I bought that one full price, too. I most certainly got my money's worth, and then some ...
I can't remember what I had for lunch today, how am I supposed to remember this? :P

If we're talking digital editions... I'm not sure. There probably was something. Once. I think. Maybe.

I'm sorry, but it just doesn't make sense for me to buy any games full price, that's the truth. A single sale can usually provide me with months worth of backlog. Especially seeing as many games I like are RPGs and strategy games, and those tend to be lengthy. So if games I buy on one sale easily last me until the next one (usually way longer), it just makes no sense to buy anything full price.

Right now there's a lot of stuff on sale I'd love to buy, and even very cheap, but in the end I decided not to buy anything, because I still have stuff left to play through.

The one game I promised myself to buy full price if it ever appears here (unless the price is just insane) is Star Trek TNG A Final Unity.

Ha, I've thought about changing it, but ... nah. And if I did, it would probably just be another race from FTL anyways ;-)
In the last 6 months, I got

Into the Breach
Monster Hunter World
Nioh

Games that I bought at release, or shortly before, but had a launch day/pre-order discount

Final Fantasy XV
Gorogoa
Battle Chef Brigade

And that is what is interesting. We have so many options we no longer have to buy at full price to "stay busy." I guess one of the questions I have is: Would you ever pay full price for a game? And if so, what is the criteria? Because it isn't that you don't have already great games in your account that you paid a relative pittance for. So is it because you want to be a part of the first wave? Do you want to support the developers? Something else?

I have zero interest in being among the first to play a game. It's not important to me, and my wishlist is long and extends quite a few years back (not counting classic titles) and there's so many games released every year that I'd never be able to be up to speed with everything. Also, I learned through experience that it's often better to buy a game some time later simply to get it once all the bugs have been worked out.

As for supporting the devs... yeah, if I had a ton of money I'd probably want to support more the devs who make stuff I really like. Maybe if it wasn't for the "sales logic" we'd get a sequel to Tales from the Borderlands, a game I got for a fraction of it's normal price and came to dearly love. But as things are right now I have to be very careful with my budget, and to be honest computer games are rather low on my list of entertainment priorities. There's books, movies, comics, hell even board games and drawing supplies. It all adds up.
Knights of the Chalice - because I wanted to play it but it never went on sale (it's only available at the author's website).

Blocks That Matter - it's great, has a low price to begin with and the devs are nice.

Maybe Driftmoon? Worth it, too, and sympathetic devs.

Steamworld Dig 2 - because I loved the first one and was eager to play the sequel.

Thimbleweed Park - looked great, was eager to play it.

Several adventure games by WadjetEye, because I knew I would enjoy them, because they were fairly priced and because I like the company and think they deserve my money.

I also bought some Amanita Design games at release, but they had some minimal release discounts or I still had wallet credit to make them cheaper.

On GOG I paid full price for (among many others): Gothic, Psychonauts, Temple of Elemental Evil, Ultima Underworld 1+2, Undying, System Shock 2, or more recently Call of Cthulu: Dark Corners of the Earth, Evil Islands, Albion etc.

Probably more, but AFAIK no AAA games, just indies and re-released oldies. I don't always go for the highest discounts but I usually buy at what I think the games are worth to me and how eager I am to play them. There aren't that many that I'm so enthusiastic about that I would want to buy them immediately, and most games cost at least twice the amount of what I'd be willing to pay (not quite sure if that makes them seem overpriced or me a downright cheapskate XD).

On GOG I think Painkiller: Black Edition is the only game for which I have paid full price. I did that because I've loved that game for many years and I have the Dreamcatcher CD-ROM edition, but Microsoft caused Windows 10 to disable Securom from working, which made my discs useless.

But then I couldn't play the GOG versions properly anyway, because my crappy Intel iGPU is unable to render some of its shadows properly due to bugs in their graphics drivers that they never fix.

The reasons why I almost never pay full price are because:

1. Demos are almost non-existent now, whereas they used to be the norm for almost every game. That makes buying any game a gamble because there is no way to be sure I'll like it before I've played it.

2. 30 hours used to be the standard minimum length for a full priced game, but now the new standard is 4-10 hours only. IMO if they are giving me way less hours of playtime, then they deserve way less dollars.

Macaroni and cheese?
Very few on GOG... Halcyon 6 I bought on a whim day 1 because I really liked the look of it (and wasn't disappointed) though I believe it had a day 1 discount.
I may have bought something else full price here before too but I can't remember.

But I buy most Nintendo games full price, because I don't tend to have much choice as sales are far less frequent.
