From the lips of the wise Mel Gibson.

To date I have spent nearly $2700 US on GoG games. That makes me one of GoG's most valuable customers.
I would gladly sacrifice all that money and those games for the principle of choice.
Don't let communist China dictate what the world is allowed to do.

The French and Danes refused to bow to the extremists who attacked them physically for printing cartoons of Muhammad.
Surely GoG can endure the Communists who are threatening GoG with economic pain.

Where will this end if communist China is allowed to dictate what game content is allowed?

Communist China gave the world Covid and we should bow to them? Seriously?

We live in a strange and terrible time where companies are afraid of looking insensitive, not censoring what more than 7 people in the world to online to say they find offensive, worrying about what the overly sensitive and bored outraged 20 year jobless youth of the world might think, how they are scared of a single comment on facebook ruining their company, jumping on the bandwagon of over indulging it pro active censorship, and of course pissing the bed they might lose some Chinese dollars.

I am disgusted with the world's society at large where censorship, removal, deletion, cancellation and outright attack on everything that isn't sacrine, boring, generic, sterile and inoffensive. Everytime a company pulls a stunt like this it only makes those more powerful and emboldens them, and it encourages other companies to do the same.

Censorship is a heinous crime against a free, open minded, and thoughtful society.

Rise up GAMERS we have a revolution to have!
My soul is free and it will always be, they can't have it - never.

So I'll just take care of it while resisting to such tyranny.
It seems fitting that these discussions would happen on GOG, a shop that has -- in the past -- championed non-DRM product -- DRM being a controlling afront to consumer rights, a freedom.

Freedom is eroded for many reasons -- safety, expediency, convenience...

... but once it's lost...

... it's gone.

My Steam library looks like a prison.

Games locked. Keystrokes recorded. Facebook integration. Cookies watching. Data mined.

I have become the commodity... just because I wanted to play a game.

But at some point...

... there is action
Here's something that personally, I've only heard from AngryJoe. CDPR is working on an Android "game as service", and China is the biggest market for these types of games. If the threat was remove that game, or you can't release your game in China...

And at this point I kinda have to agree, I mean... I don't know dude, the weakest kid in class isn't the one that stands up to the bully. Where is quarterback that has lived a lifetime of psychological comfort, and why isn't he stepping up? STEAM and Fortnite should be setting the example, not the guys that have dug themselves in a deep hole, releasing an unfinished game.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't.

I spent 85 bucks and requested refunds for those already. I am GOG's least valuable customer. You cannot dispute that.
Also got that free game they offered off of Humble Bundle the other day. (I like it more than Cyberpunk, honestly.)
So GOG even lost money money on me.

I think what GOG did was pretty shitty, and I think China's global financial influence is dangerous to some degree, but do we really need a new thread on this every five minutes? With escalating melodrama every time? I think not.

if these people had an actual grievance they'd probably try sticking to one thread instead of spamming like the /b/ rejects they probably are. seems more like they're using the delisting a game apparently over a hidden memetic insult as an excuse to be obnoxious.
