If you could be a videogame character which one would it be and why ?
Very nice question.

I think, based on the games I've played, that Nathan Drake would be the best choice that I can think at the moment. Well, as all these protagonists he has some heavy issues behind with the parents and all but in the end he has/had a great life and, no spoilers, it all ends great in the end.
sjeez..... 'Welcome back Commander' is good enough :D

I'd say Guybrush Threepwood, he got to have awesome but not too serious adventures, become a Mighty Pirate and got the girl of his dreams. But I still haven't played Return to Monkey Island, and I'm not sure if that one doesn't mess all that up for him (that's also why I haven't been in a rush to pick it up), so I guess it's not a wish I'd say out loud, just in case :D
From the games I played, the hero/heroine I would like to be the most is Jade, from Beyond Good and Evil.

She’s kind, strong, smart, altruistic… While at the same time being a believable character, not just some kind of artificial paragon of virtue.

The friends she has and the ones she makes along the way are all the kind of people that I would trust, and like her they feel more like real characters than some archetypes.
I want to be like Kiryu Kazuma in the Yakuza-games. Cool and badass, with a heart of gold.
Interesting topic.

I had to think for a bit since my primary genre is strategy/simulation and "unnamed mayor/emperor/general" didn't seem like a particularly interesting response. ;)

Of the games I've played with actual named characters, I think the ones who seem the most interesting to me are Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil, certain versions of Link from the Zelda series, and Samus Aran from Metroid. In all those cases, though, I'd probably rather not have to go through the stuff they do in their various adventures. XD

Other than those, my character from the Oblivion savegame I've so far spent more than 422 hours playing would be up there, partly just for the world he lives in.
In all my favorite games one can name the character however one wants to.

Or cant name it at all, like in No Man's Sky.

Also if I actually was that person, I would most likely be dead. For example like pretty much everyone I died to the first assassin in Friendly Arms Inn the first time I played Baldur's Gate.

So I guess my only option is the Nameless One from Planescape: Torment, because the game doesnt give you an option to pick your character or its name, only how you develop the character.
Dirk the Daring from Dragon's Lair. Despite looking like a complete dork, he gets Princess Daphne in the end. I'd be happy.
Maybe Kyle Katarn (STAR WARS™ Jedi Knight) because it's a complex character who can chose between being good or bad, or something in the middle.

Jack Harper, The Illusive Man. How about yourself?

Plus, he's got a hammerspace inventory. Imagine being able to deploy a bike like that, and then just pop it back into your pantaloons!
Hello PaloPLAYER!

What an interesting question... which video game character I wuold like to be?

Well, would the unnamed hero (meaning "me" the player "myself") in "Myst" & "Riven" and the other sequels count?

Otherwise, I could think of the "heroic Captain Viridian" from "VVVVVV" (or "the letter V six times"), for he is looking, helping and rescuing his friends, saving the collapsing world and can flip gravity back and forth instantly, whenever desired.

But most importantly, like the hero from "Lumo" (and other games) Captain Viridian always gets up on his feet again, no matter what, independently of the hazards and of the amount he falls / fails!

In the past, I sometimes have wished for the ability to reset or "reload" in real life in order to correct or change an outcome of a bad decision (sort of a time machine).

But nowadays, I think it would be so much better to have this resilience of characters like Viridian to always and quickly (almost instantly) get back up again!

Wouldn't that perk or feat be great to have?

Kind regards,
foxgog

The sim I based on myself who is technically immortal because I turned aging off in the options. Smoking hot wife, a pointless manor, and a job they keep coming home exhausted from that pays for it all, and kids that have nothing to do because I can't be bothered to micromanage their lives.

Wait, that sounds terrible actually.
