I am personally very excited, I will host a server for all my friends and friends of friends when the update comes out.
Also Red has been active in the terraria discord so that is cool (not that I am in the server but i see stuff)
Red said that we could possible get Terraria Otherworld to go opensource if he gets a petition with 100k signatures for it!
It is a great time to be a terraria fan, but if you want to talk about another game update you are excited about feel free to.
i'm excited for it too. i womder it'll actually be updated to 1.4 here on a saturday though. i sure hope so.
Didn't know it was coming so soon. Definitely excited now :)
Confession: it's been sitting on my shelf and this is probably going to be the opportunity to start playing... :/

Confession: it had been sitting on my GOG shelf for a long time, then at some point (a year ago or so) I just decided to install it and try to play it.

I had no idea what I was doing in the game and what I was supposed to be doing. I think I moved right on the screen and kept digging downwards, ending up underground.

I was completely puzzled about what was happening in the game, stopped playing bored and haven't revisited it since. I know, maybe I am too impatient and I just didn't get its greatness with the short try, but I prefer games which teach me how to play or give clear instructions in the beginning where I should be heading. Like when I yesterday started playing GTA IV (which many consider a "sandbox game"), it still managed to clearly tell in the beginning what I should do, where to go etc. No problem there, I never felt puzzled what on earth I am supposed to do next.

I guess the same reason Minecraft never pulled me in. I could be whacking on trees and ground whole day, not understanding what to do next. Or playing Civilization or Master of Orion... ummm, what am I supposed to do, again?

Some games are like trying to teach me to swim by throwing me at the deep end of the pool, and I don't like that.

A Moderator in the terraria forums said that if everything happens the way it should it will be updated on the same day.

There is a character, named Guide. He is hanging around the starting area.
You can talk to him to get some info to start. Also, he is very useful to get info about crafting recipes.

Maybe you should gather some friends together to play with (doesn't have to be lan) and play on a server with each other, it is much more fun that way.

Same, except I wasn't puzzled about what was happening. Afrer Minecraft it felt like a breeze. But I will definitely check the new version.

It would be better if games came with actual manuals or guides like they did in the past.
Me, its going to be amazing. The patchlog alone is like 40 pages long.
Does it have a pause button finally?

you can set it to pause when you open the inventory

Real pause? Last I tried it just disabled damage but everything still moved about. (Also, it'd be nice just to pause anytime, no needing to open inventory... But that's workable, I guess.
