Hi,
I was just wondering why phone systems are so complex?
We got an office with just 3 phones, 1 number, and the phones can transfer calls between one another.

Too me, it seems like a fairly simple task. But no, we have to have this huge PBX box hanging on the wall.... WHY the F it needs to be so big? is it calculating the freaking human genome or something? is it controlling multiple satellites in orbit? No, its managing 3 office phones, big woopti doo!

Not only that, the absurd PBX box thing has to be connected to the modem/internet as well, so if there is a problem with the internet, which is a different line, oh joy, we get to have no phones as well, isn't that lucky! Wouldn't want to waste a problem with a different system now would we!

On top of that, the system has to f--k up every now and then, so we have to pay for expensive technicians to come and fix it.

All the above just to run 3 office phones??? Does it really have to be that F--ing complicated?

Just wondering?

Probably not, but the thing is they tie you in, so when you get a specific brand of crap you have to ask them to repair it.

But requiring internet too? jeebus.. probably for live updates.. or listening in... maybe..

But you're in Australia i guess so it's a whole different world down there, maybe it has 4 120mm fans inside? and a big heatsink?

The big box is where they put the spiders. All hardware in Australia comes preinstalled with spiders. It's a cultural thing I think.

Ah! That to scare off any would-be technicians?

I would so love to rip that idiot PBX box off the wall and throw it out the window..... good riddance to bad rubbish!
But what to replace it with?
I would love to be able to set up an old laptop to control the three phones if that was possible?
The exact size of this idiot PBX box is 600mm X 320mm X 70mm

Almost the size of a desktop computer! Just to manage 3 phones!!!
