You should join the I hate Galaxy 2.0 facebook group! I've heard from some person that if enough people join and repost, GOG will give you v1.2 back again.

Pffft, who cares. No real Scotsman uses the Galaxy client anyway, but installs the games MANUALLY with the installers and plays them on a computer which gets its electricity from an exercise bike that one has to pedal while playing the game!

I use Galaxy, like it even. The big selling point here is the word "optional" though. I feel much better when I know that at any moment I can switch to offline installers - call me petty, call me hypocrite but when "optional" is gone from the equation, there's gonna be no difference between Galaxy and Steam. Worse - Steam is going to be a much better option.
