Shocker93: This is about common sense and being respected as a costumer. Even if I will buy it a year later, I still want the PC version to be released in time. GTA V which wasn't even that good in the first place came out 12 years ago. In 12 years Rockstar released 7 mainline GTA from 2001 to 2013. I'm not in my teens or even in my 20's anymore to just sit back and wait years for a game to finally come out on PC that already has been released on consoles. This entire release model makes no sense these days, and only Rockstar does it.
So is it more like some kind of ideological crusade that Rockstar isn't showing enough respect to us PC gamers and didn't even say "Thank you", not even once.

I got GTA V PC version as a freebie from EGS, and I admit I haven't seen any kind of gratitude from Rockstar about my purchase. Do they expect me to actually play the game, if their attitude is like that? I can almost taste the spit on my face.
Its probably gonna be an optimization mess for PCs.
Rockstar will probably focus on fixing all the optmization problems on PS5 (wasn't the latest trailer running in-engine on a base PS5?) first to later double dip and release focused PC builds.
Sony paid a megaton on exclusive marketing rights for a start. So why is it coming on Xbox consoles as well? Well...right now Sony probably doesn't want to piss them off. The biggest selling games on PS5 right now are Xbox Studio owned games- COD, Oblivion Remaster, Forza Horizon 5 and Doom Dark Ages coming...with Xbox consoles not competing in sales, they may as well just leave them be, not many are going to buy an Xbox to play GTA VI. PC on the other hand, they know that many will buy PS5's just to play GTA VI a year early.

BanditKeith2: If I recall right Rockstar had a interview that someone high up in the company said they was doing console first anymore because the person in the interview put it ''pc gamers are cheap'' and went on to basically clarify in saying pc gamers rarely if ever buy the games any company puts out anywhere remotely at full price ... Granted I could be misremembering on what company had a person stated that because of all the stupid crude game companies have been saying more and more
When they're trying to push and normalize $90-100+ for a game, I'd say the response of PC gamers to wait them out seems entirely justified.

Breja: Seeing how this will not be a DRM-free release anyway, on Day 1 or Day 1000 or any other day, being "respected as a customer" doesn't enter into it.
Yes. Given GTA VI will likely never see a DRM-free release - why should I care?

That and it will be almost exactly the same as GTA IV, again ... the same tired formula they've been flogging for a long time now /yawn

Agreed on this as even now I see 70 to 80 dollars just for a base game insane .while Anything higher is unhinged at best..
i fully agree, the cost a base game is nearing $100
hardware is nearing insane prices.

developers have cheaper resources and better tools than ever.
they blame inflation but the truth is..
even if new hardware processes lower buy 80% to make a chip.
they will not lower price, instead we have all seen prices go up, but it's easier and cheaper to do the work than ever.

Breja: I'm honestly amazed how people can keep up with current games to the point of being concerned about "day 1". I'm pretty sure I have more free time than the average adult, I devote at least a little of it to playing something almost every day, and I'm still literally years behind.
Same here, i also have more free time than the average adult and i still haven't played Red Dead Redemption 2 even though i liked playing Red Dead Redemption 1 after i got a PS3 GOTY physical disc 2 years ago, so i'm not gonna care about GTA 6. :)

I'm more interested in Mafia: The Old Country since it won't have the online crap that infected Rockstar and the GTA series for 12 years now. And after GTA 6 releases we won't see GTA 7 for another 12 years.

Shocker93: It's interesting how Microsoft who has their own console, releases their first party games on PC day 1, or in the case of games like Gears Tactics or Microsoft Flight Simulator, even months earlier than the Xbox versions,
It's because Microsoft also owns the biggest PC operating system in the world. And if they ignore PC gamers more of them may switch to Linux. See how Microsoft started releasing Xbox games on PC day 1 after Windows 10 starting with Gears Of War 4 and Forza Horizon 3? That's 4 years after the disaster of Windows 8 Microsoft Store caused more companies to start thinking about Linux. (and you cannot use PC Game Pass or Microsoft Store on Mac or Linux)

wolfsite: Some speculate it's so they can get people to double dip. Buy the console version first for those that can't wait then nail those people again with the PC version. Again pure speculation but I wouldn't put it past them.
It's speculation, sure. But the model fits the data. It's hard to think of a more consumer-hating publisher that engages in more exploitative shenanigans and dark patterns than Take-Two/Rockstar.

Plus what Breja said:

As long as we don't get GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas as DRM-free originals I don't care much about GTA VI.

Even 1 and 2, ffs. Maybe we could start with those ... ?
/rolleyes

It's absolutely ludicrous that those two haven't been released DRM-free by now. Until they are, I will not touch anything made by Rockstar. They have no respect for their gamers, or their own history.

GTA 1 and GTA 2 was released as DRM-free freeware on Rockstar website... but it disappeared for some reason.

They were probably too popular, and they got cold feet.

PookaMustard: Rockstar is a predatory company on both its devs and customers, milking the same game dry for over a decade
It's hard to empathize when the game primarily glorifies mass-violence while being tongue and cheek about the culture Rockstar plays a part in.

It's kind of like Oil...

But in any case, you're right. I could care less for the fan-base. They seem tone-deaf.
Because they know they can play people like this, having them buying their game twice. They know people will get a console just to play this game.
I don't see myself getting another console, I'm done.
I also don't see myself renting this game on steam just to have radio content taken away from me years afterwards.

Really, you are cranky that I mentioned GTA 1 and 2? But forgot yourself the add-ons GTA London 1969 and 1961...
